Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the beef wellington, described as exceptional, with a melt in the mouth fillet and a generous portion. Close behind are the Sunday roast and the confit duck leg that fell off the bone. Starters draw steady praise too, especially the goats cheese mousse with beetroot and the beetroot and feta, while the creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding feature among the desserts. A chicken and ham pie is called a feast, and portions are repeatedly described as generous. Several mention friendly, attentive staff, a real fire with wood beams, and a garden with a wishing well. The one drawback raised is that the wood fire irritated one group's eyes. One reviewer who booked by telephone was glad to have done so, calling the pub hugely popular, and another thanked the team for being dog friendly and for a little birthday song.

“We booked in advance via telephone and I’m so glad we did, because it is clearly hugely popular! The pub itself is so cosy with a real fire and wood beams. The lady serving us was absolutely lovely and so attentive. We had the beef wellington and Creme brûlée, both were delicious.”

“We were sold on the Fleur de Lys as soon as we saw Beef Wellington on the menu and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Our welcome was very warm and friendly, the service was first class and the Beef Wellington, which was freshly prepared and cooked, was exceptional. The fillet steak cut like butter. This was followed by Crème Brûlée - also top notch. I highly recommend the Fleur de Lys and we will return when next in the area. Great food, great value and a great pub..”

“Four friends had lunch here this weekend and it was such a treat! We sat outside in the lovely garden and the setting was so beautiful next to a well. The food was delicious and I’d definitely recommend the beetroot and feta starter and the chicken and ham pie was a feast! Great portions and really friendly staff. Thank you for such a lovely time.”

“Came here for a Sunday roast whilst staying locally. Can safely say it was one of the best roasts I’ve had in a long time. The food was cooked to perfection & obviously prides itself on good quality ingredients. The setting of the pub is charming and the service was very friendly. The starters were wonderfully light and unique. I recommend the goats cheese mousse with beetroot. The confit duck leg for main was incredible and fell off the bone. As the portions were very generous, we were so full at this point, but couldn’t resist the sticky toffee pudding… which was also delicious! Can’t wait to come back soon next time we’re in the area.”
