Customer Review Summary
Shepherd's pie draws the most repeated praise, with two diners calling it perfect, and close behind come starters such as potted shrimp, pea soup and caviar, plus arancini, truffle soufflé and mafaldine pasta. Several reviewers are celebrating birthdays or special occasions, and they describe friendly, attentive waiting staff, one of whom acknowledged the occasion, in a beautiful, lively room decorated with plenty of plants. Desserts earn wonderful mentions, especially the chocolate bombe and the birthday box, and one reviewer also recommends the afternoon tea. The main criticism comes from a group of five who found the restaurant hectic, with the team's constant movement making the evening feel rushed and hard to justify given the bill, despite excellent food. Another diner found the waiter a little robotic, though not bad in any way. Others praise food that arrived quickly and with good timing between courses. One birthday dessert came in a red box, with warm caramel sauce poured over the chocolate.

“Me and my husband celebrated my birthday at Ivy Clifton, and it was absolutely outstanding. We ordered arancini balls, zucchini friti, truffle soufflé, mafaldine pasta, vegan cheese burger, tenderstem brocolli and birthday box. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The staff was very friendly, atmosphere was very lively and we loved every inch of the decor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely meal with beautiful atmosphere.”

“Exquisitely decorated with so many plants making the surroundings so natural. Plus such tasty food beautifully presented on the plates, served with perfect timing between the corses. My only slightly negative was our waiter could have been a bit more interactive with his guests, he wasn’t bad in any way just a little robotic.”

“Came here for my birthday in the evening with my partner and we were both very impressed. We were served by Ammar who was so friendly and very conversational. The atmosphere was incredibly high-end and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!!!”

“From the moment you walk through the entrance and into the venue you can instantly tell this place is something very special. On arrival we were greated by a very friendly gentleman who took our reservation details before offering us a choice of areas where to sit. We chose the brighter area towards the back of the venue that had doors opening up into a garden with a very ornate water fountain visible. Again we were offered a choice of tables, where we would prefer to sit. The menus were vast and had many different options to suit various food preferences and sized meals. Our waitress was a very polite young black lady who instantly made us feel very welcome, sadly we never asked her name so are unable to pass on our gratitude, but from this feedback I'm sure she'll remember us. We ordered starters of Potted shrimp, Pea soup and caviar, we'd never seen caviar on a menu before so gave it a go. When the food was brought over to us the tastes were utterly exceptional, we had a laugh because we didn't know how to open the caviar tin, but the young lady took it away for us for it to be opened. For our mains we had sirloin steak with a side of chips and shepherds pie with a side of broccoli. Again the food was absolutely perfect, with tastes we'd never experienced before. The portions were perfectly sized and looked amazing. For dessert we had a chocolate bombe and a birthday box as it was my friends birthday, her dessert was brought out in a lovely red box with her dessert inside, we both had warm caramel sauce poured over our desserts which melted into the chocolate. We have never tasted cream, ice cream or chocolate as beautiful as this before, it was a pure food heaven. We had a bottle of red wine and I had a couple of lagers too. It isn't a venue we'd normally go to, but as it was my friends birthday, as a special treat I wanted to take her somewhere memorable and with real qualities. It certainly lived up to our expectations and it was worth every penny.”

“As a tourist Clifton Village is worth visiting, even if it's a bit of a trek from the city centre. This Ivy is housed in an impressive building and was almost deserted when we were there which isn't often my experience of Ivy's. Great service and wonderful desserts. Can't really fault this place. I feel safe going to Ivy's which is unusual in the modern world. Overall recommended.”
