Customer Review Summary

Afternoon tea is what reviewers mention most, usually for celebrations such as baby showers and birthdays, in a room described as beautifully decorated with lovely natural light. One reviewer praises inventive cake flavours and a coeliac afternoon tea handled well, and the events team earns thanks for responsive organisation, including a wedding served through a rowdy crowd. Close behind are the evening dishes: a tasting menu starter of prosciutto, Gorgonzola, figs and honey, a martini from the bartender, and shared croquettes, steak, tomato salad and chicken supreme. Servers are repeatedly called lovely. Complaints centre on the tea itself and the pacing. Sandwiches are called small and dry, and extra scones had to be requested at one baby shower. Another reviewer describes brittle scones, cold and overly strong tea, and a single sugar sachet for three people after a long wait to be seated. A Valentine's Day diner reports small portions, long gaps between courses and mismatched bowls and cutlery, and a frozen dessert served to some tables was taken off the bill.

“Afternoon Tea ReviewI recently visited this afternoon tea spot, and unfortunately, it left quite a bit to be desired. Right off the bat, we faced a long delay in being seated—apparently, the venue was juggling a hen party and a baby shower at the same time. It really made me question why they took bookings for afternoon tea if they were already so overbooked with events.Once we were finally seated, the service continued to be slow. They took our order and brought the tea, but it took so long for the food to arrive that our tea became cold and overly strong, making it pretty much undrinkable. To add to that, we were seated in a less-than-ideal spot near the bar, along with just a couple of other tables, all of which had also ordered afternoon tea.Despite having pre-ordered the food when we booked, the wait for the food was unreasonably long. And when we needed something as simple as sugar, there was no one in sight to help us. When we finally did flag someone down, they only brought a single sachet of sugar for three people. As for the food itself, it was pretty disappointing. The sandwich variety was minimal and felt like something I could have thrown together at home for my kids. The dessert selection was also lackluster. The scones were large, but unfortunately brittle—they crumbled the moment we tried to cut into them. In conclusion, the overall experience was disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a smooth and enjoyable afternoon tea.”

“The place is absolutely gorgeous, the staff were very welcoming and helpful (huge thanks to Mia, who looked after us so well!) and the food was great. Couldn't have asked for more, really. Such a wonderful experience. :)”

“No 4 hosted my friend’s baby shower. They made every step of organisation really easy, were very responsive and cater to allergies really well. We have quite a lot of coeliacs in our group and they took care of the coeliac afternoon tea. The event room is absolutely stunning - beautifully decorated and lovely natural light. It was already nicely decorated with flowers so we didn’t actually need to do very much, but we bought some balloons and other bits. The afternoon tea itself was really lovely. I have had quite a lot of afternoon teas and often find them repetitive and boring but this afternoon tea was beautiful and inventive flavours of cake. The thing I was most impressed with was the communication of the events team they were fabulous huge thank you to them.”

“We had a very lovely time, celebrating my daughters 30th birthday. Our servers Katie and Mia were very charming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the cakes were amazing.”
