Quick info
About Eat a Pitta
Eat a Pitta is a falafel restaurant at 21 Queens Rd in Bristol, built around a falafel recipe from Grandma Yolande's kitchen in Algiers that is more than 70 years old. That recipe is served in pittas or in boxes, with salads, sauces and dips alongside. A halloumi pitta sits next to the falafel on the menu, and fried aubergine is available as a side or a topping. Vegan and veggie choices are part of the menu. The restaurant is walk-in, with limited seating and an upstairs area to eat.
Good to know
“The Eat a Pitta falafel recipe originated in Grandma Yolandes’ kitchen in the back streets of Algiers more than 70 years ago. As a kid I was always glued to my grandmothers side as she taught me how to make the perfect falafel, crispy on the outside, moist in the middle.”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back for the falafel, with several calling it the best they have had, and the falafel and halloumi pitta draws particular mention for its generous size. Close behind are the salad boxes, described as filled to the brim, and the fried aubergine, which one reviewer calls to die for. Others praise the vegan options, the hummus, and friendly, fast service from the staff, with the counter team singled out repeatedly as lovely and welcoming. Some note limited seating, though one reviewer ate upstairs with a view of the museum. The main complaint is shrinkflation. One longtime regular says the pitta is now about 60% of its old size, the pickles and gherkins are gone, prices have risen, and on one visit two staff were chatting while a single person served slowly. Another calls the sides okay but slightly overpriced. Even so, a veggie diner describes the falafel and halloumi pitta as enough to keep them going for the day.

“I hate to give a bad review to eat a pitta as it’s been my Bristol favourite lunch spot for years but shrinkflation has hit. The pitta is now 60% of the size it used to be a no pickles or gherkins - the fun toppings everyone loves! Prices also gone up. And this time we went in 2 staff were chatting with only one serving v slowly.”
