About The Bright Helm

The pub runs over two floors, with the bar counter at the top. Chandeliers hang in rooms with differently coloured walls and painted designs. The food menu covers gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas, along with deli deal options and vegetarian choices. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the value, with a cooked breakfast of hash browns, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms plus free refills on tea and coffee drawing the warmest comments. Close behind are friendly staff and ordering through the app from the table. Drinkers single out a better than average range of cask beer, along with Angelo Poretti and Stowford Press, and one parent liked the kids activity sheets and crayons. The recurring complaints are slow service and cold food. Two reviewers describe long waits for meals and drinks, one with an uncleared table after asking three staff, and another with a half missing order. A burger and chips arrived cold for a third diner. That half missing order ended with the plate carried back to the bar and another wait.

“Great Wetherspoon with a friendly atmosphere, quick service, and excellent value for money. The food was tasty, arrived promptly, and the drinks were well priced. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the pub was clean and comfortable. A great place to catch up with friends or enjoy a relaxed meal. I’ll definitely be back!”

“Great value for money! I got a delicious breakfast here for just £6.29. The price even included a hot drink with free refills. This was an amazing deal. I could drink both coffee and tea during my meal. The food looked very nice on a pretty blue and white plate. It was a classic breakfast with everything you need to start the day. There were baked beans in a small blue bowl. There were also more beans on the side. The plate had warm grilled tomatoes and dark mushrooms. I also got crispy hash browns and savory meat. Everything tasted fresh and hot.The portion size was perfect. It was very filling and kept me full for hours. Finding a good, hearty meal for this price is rare. The free refills on hot drinks made it even better. The staff were friendly, and the service was fast. The restaurant felt clean and cozy.I highly recommend this place if you want a tasty and cheap breakfast. It is the best budget meal in town. I will definitely come back here again soon!”

“Visited the Bright Helm in Brighton and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. We waited around 50 minutes for food, and when it finally arrived it was cold. Drinks also took around 30 minutes to come out, which felt excessive. To make matters worse, our table was left uncleared for a long time we asked three different members of staff before anything was done. Overall the service felt very disorganised and inattentive. Sadly wouldn’t recommend based on this visit.”

“The service here is terrible, 4 people on the bar at the top and no one can serve you, its sunday 2pm and place is empty. Ordered 13:05 got food 13:40, half the order was missing, the extras didn't arrive.... there is no point trying to reason unless you do what I did and bring the food back to the bar and then wait another 40 minutes. Avoid, at all cost and go to another spoons”

“The atmosphere was nice, didn't take long to find a seat. Burger came out cold, cold chips. Overall I ate it cos I was hungry but I hate cold burgers and chips, it's like it was fine ages ago but was just sitting there.”
