About Tempest
Tempest is a bar on Kings Rd in Brighton, set in a warren of lantern-lit caves built into the seafront arches under the promenade. Inside, interlinked caves with textured walls and cave seating make up the room. The pub menu lists 28 dishes and leads with seafood, and the burgers include a Chilli Cheeseburger. A fish and chip sando sits alongside them. On the drinks side, a big selection of beers on tap runs next to ciders and cocktails. An upstairs room can be hired with its own private bar, which gives groups space for birthday parties and events. The bar also hosts late-night electronic music sessions.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the cave-like interior built into the seafront arches, a warren of interlinked, lantern-lit rooms with curves, shapes and colours that one calls bizarre decor and another genuinely unique. Cave seating inside offers some privacy, while the terrace by the beach draws groups for sunset drinks. Close behind is the drinks list, with a great choice of beers on tap and cocktails described as well made. Food is named too, including the chilli cheeseburger, mac n cheese, buffalo tenders, session tater tots and a fish and chip sando, with one diner already planning to return for the katsu version. One reviewer found the dishes huge and very instagrammable but the taste only average. Several describe friendly, attentive staff and a kind manager. Two hosted events, a lunch and dinner gathering and a 21st birthday in the upstairs room, and each had its own private bar.

“Had a lovely time at tempest with my friends, the atmosphere was fab but it was made so much better by the lovely Haydn who works there. He made us feel so comfortable and brought amazing vibes to the whole place. Would definitely recommend, and if you get the honour of talking to Haydn, your time will be even more worthwhile!”

“🌊 Seafront bar built into the arches under the promenade - the entrance doesn't give much away, but step inside and the whole place opens into a warren of interlinked caves. 🕯️ The cave theme is genuinely unique - lantern-lit, textured walls, a proper warren you could get lost in. Not a gimmick bolted onto a normal pub, the whole layout is built around it. 🍸 Cocktail list holds up well - good range, well made. 🌅 Beach terrace right on the seafront makes it a solid pick for a day drink in the sun or an evening out, and it's known for some of Brighton's better late-night electronic music sessions. 📍 Right on the promenade near the West Pier remains. One of the more distinctive bars on this stretch of seafront - worth going in just to see how the caves connect.”

“This is always our go-to bar when meeting up with friends and drinking in Brighton. Situated right on the seafront, down by the beach, this has a wonderful blend of normality outside and bizarre decor inside. There's always a great choice of drinks on tap and lots of outside seating, perfect for getting together with mates, watching the sun go down and having a great time. Note: Make sure you do go inside and look around at the curves, shapes, colours and layout (see photo) but be warned...they can appear very strange if you've had too much too drink!”

“Amazing team, so attentive and very flexible. Food was so good, we had lunch AND dinner there for my event. Atmosphere was perfect for the event I had. Initially I was expecting more people but the Tempest team were so adaptable when less people showed up and made the space still look very inviting. We also had our private bar!! What more could we wish for. Made planning my event so easy!! Will come back. 😍”
