About The Westbourne

A small car park serves drivers.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to the burgers, naming a steak burger, a pulled chicken burger, a bbq chicken burger, a bacon cheese burger and a vegan option, all described as tasty and served quickly. Close behind is the Sunday roast, with generous portions like a home cooked meal, plus a lunch club deal and discounts on starters that reviewers call great value. Several praise the friendly, welcoming staff, a good range of beers and ales, and the garden with fairy lights, though one notes the outdoor tables sit next to the road. Sport on the many TVs and a pool table draw some, while one reviewer finds it loud and lively and only visits before about 5pm when no sport is on. The main complaints are about timing and welcome: two Christmas diners mention courses arriving unevenly, one saying all dishes came at once and another noting a gap between courses that they liked, and one first-time visitor felt ignored at the counter when a greeting went unanswered. Christmas Day diners recall a complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival.

“This is a great local pub run by Jo and Ade, with the fabulous Kelsey ensuring everyone is having a good time. Great pub food, ales and great for sports on tv events 😋”

“So pleasantly surprised by the food. Apparently the menu is new and it blows out of the water. We had a steak and a pulled chicken burger, 10/10. Staff were so lovely and we sat outside in the lovely garden with fairy lights. Do pop by after a beach day!”

“A Green King pub with a pool table and loads of TVs showing sports. Plus a large outdoor area with nice picnic tables, but next to the road. They have a few vegan choices, to too. We both had burgers (one regular, one vegan). They were served quickly and were pretty good. Staff are friendly, and there's a good selection of beers. It does get a bit loud and lively for us so we will only visit up until about 5pm, and when there's no sport on.”

“I have been to the Westbourne pub with my partner many times for Sunday lunch and it has always been very good, food like a home cooked Sunday roast with generous portions. It's a proper pub with a lovely welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and good service. We actually went there for our Christmas day lunch and were so pleased we did. The pub was decorated very christmassy, we got a lovely welcome, all the staff wished us a Merry Christmas. We were given our complimentary glass of prosecco and shown to our table by a lovely young lady called Georgia. There were lots of tables set up and they were very busy with diners. There were lots of people just having drinks too but there was a separate section for drinkers so we didn't have people pushing by us to get to the bar which we've sadly had in other places. Teresa and the team behind the bar were very helpful and friendly. Georgia, Kelsey and the Manager Jo were lovely and very busy waitressing but we were well looked after. There was a bit of a wait in-between courses but we liked this as we got to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and didn't feel rushed. The food we had pre ordered was worth the wait and everything was delicious and hot when we got it. Thank you to the whole team for working so hard on Christmas Day! We will see you this Sunday for a roast dinner and we will probably be booking for Christmas Day this year 😊 Sandra and Bob x”
