About The Moon in the Square
The Moon in the Square is a Wetherspoon pub in Bournemouth, set in a converted 1930s department store at 4-8 Exeter Rd. Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is what most reviewers return for, with a late breakfast served until midday, plenty of vegan and veggie options and coffee all drawing praise, and several call the prices fair or surprisingly cheap. Close behind are the central location near the pier and a friendly, chilled atmosphere that is busy even at 9:30 in the morning, plus a curry and framed pictures of famous Bournemouth people. Staff are described as kind and quick by several, though others find them rude. One diner's American burger arrived with cheese despite the order, and the server said a replacement would take over 10 minutes. The burger was greasy and under cooked and the chips cold. Another reviewer says the wings smelled and tasted unpleasant. Two reviewers describe being turned away: a gluten-free customer was not served at the bar after staff pointed to a wall machine that did not work, and one reviewer who had a seizure says they were told they could come back in but would not be served. A family in a group of 8 was asked to leave at 10:30pm.

“Good food, good drinks, suprisingly cheap and that's a good thing. I was able to get 3 cokes. Good atmosphere with frames about the history of famous people in Bournemouth... You get kicked out at 10pm if you have a family, but sometimes you go unnoticed. Yes, the group of 8 I was in only got asked to leave at 10:30pm. Nice”

“Nice location, good breakfast selection and the prices are fair. Seems like a lot of locals like this place as well. The people working there are very nice.”

“I can only give this spoons a three star. The food is standard spoons food...always good prices. The only downside is that when we asked staff about GF options they simply pointed at a box/machine on the wall, which is fine....if it worked. So only my partner got to eat as they wouldn't serve me at the bar due to being GF. The drinks are always priced at affordable prices and so is the food would have just been nice to have had the service to be able to eat. The toilets were clean and they had a lot of cleaners going around the pub which was nice as there is a huge turnover in customers here. It's always busy so be careful if you want a seat”
