Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Sunday roast and the set menu, with the lamb shank roast singled out for falling off the bone and the beef roast for being slightly pink in the middle. Fish and chips on Tuesday night comes close behind, praised for flaky fish, crisp golden batter and chunky chips, and several call it a bargain. Others name the pork belly starter, the lamb main, duck spring rolls, pan fried salmon with orzo, and crème brûlée. Staff draw steady praise as friendly and attentive, and the open kitchen and bar are mentioned too. Reviewers also describe a networking lunch handled smoothly for a large group. The complaints are small but specific: roast potatoes that lacked crispiness, and a tiramisu charged separately on a three course set menu and not presented as visually enticing. Several mention birthday touches, including a dessert for one diner and happy birthday piped onto a crème brûlée plate.

“I’ve recently visited Chapter for Sunday lunch with my friends and we had a great experience! The roast was perfect, the atmosphere relaxed, but the best part was the service. Oakley has really looked after us and honestly made everyone’s day.”

“I have been to Chapter on several occasions now this is my first review an can say that the consistency of food ,service and staff remains at a very high standard. I was served by Oakley he was very well presented interacted with us very well and could see he had a rapport with other guests too. Had a interaction with Donna & saw how she managed her staff very impressive. The overall experience was fantastic. Also have to mention the Kitchen staff they all looked professional , uniforms and the kitchen looked amazing clean, I am making a point as this was my observation on every time I have visited. They were also friendly acknowledging my greeting and appreciation of their work. Cant wait for the next visit !”

“10/10 – A Standout Dining Experience! If you’re looking for one of the best places to eat in Birmingham, look no further than The Chapter, Edgbaston Village. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Every member of staff was warm, professional, attentive and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a fantastic experience. Nothing was too much trouble, and they always seemed to be there exactly when needed without ever being intrusive. The food was absolutely outstanding. We visited on their Tuesday Fish & Chips Night, where fish and chips are just £10.99. Honestly, it’s one of the best value meals you’ll find anywhere. The fish was perfectly flaky with a beautifully light, crisp golden batter, served with delicious chunky chips and excellent accompaniments. At £10.99, it’s an absolute bargain. The restaurant itself is stunning. Stylish, beautifully presented and thoughtfully designed, it has a fantastic atmosphere that makes you want to sit back and enjoy the experience. Every detail has clearly been carefully considered. Exceptional food, first-class service, amazing value and a beautiful setting. I honestly can’t recommend The Chapter highly enough. A well-deserved 10 out of 10. We’ll definitely be back – Tuesday Fish & Chips Night is now firmly on our list!”

“Honestly, an outstanding dining experience. The food was creative, diverse, and beautifully presented, with something to suit every taste. The staff were exceptional—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming throughout the evening. The overall ambience was superb, striking the perfect balance between relaxed and refined. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience that delivers incredible quality without breaking the bank, Chapter is absolutely the place to visit. Can’t wait to visit again!”

“I recently attended a networking lunch at The Chapter, and it served as a masterclass in how to host a group event. Finding a venue that can seamlessly handle a large, chattering crowd without compromising on the quality of the food or service is a rare thing, but The Chapter manages it effortlessly. A huge credit to Irene and her brilliant team, who provided faultless, top-tier service from start to finish. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, making it an ideal setting whether you are gathering for business or a private celebration. As for the food, 'delicious' barely covers it. I took a few photos, though I fear my camera skills do not quite do the dishes justice. If you are tasked with organising a group event of any description and want to ensure all the right boxes are ticked, put this place at the top of your list.”
