Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return most for cooking their own meal at the table in a simmering broth, with fresh meat and vegetables from a wide selection. Diners name a split pot of spicy marrow bone soup and golden chicken soup, while others pick the tom yum soup, beef with enoki mushroom and prawns, alongside ribeye steak, beef rolls and lamb rolls. The sauce station gets mentioned for building custom combinations. Several first timers say staff explained how everything worked, and one reviewer with a peanut allergy praises how well it was accommodated. Many describe it as a group or family meal, and one suggests booking ahead for big parties. The criticisms are small and scattered: one finds the music a bit noisy, one calls the price somewhat expensive while still judging it worth paying, and one notes staff stayed friendly despite a payment issue. Portions are described as generous, and one party left with containers of leftovers.

“The service here was excellent, particularly brilliant at accommodating for my peanut allergy (which can be hard with Chinese food, so a big thank you to the staff!). The place was clean, with a nice atmosphere and it had a beautiful coral aquarium which was stunning to see. The food was of great quality, the only slight criticism i would have is that the price was somewhat expensive, but overall it was worth paying for.”

“Had a great time at The Palace Hotpot on Essex Street. It's definitely the kind of place that's best enjoyed with a group, as everyone can try different ingredients and enjoy the experience together. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially as it was our first time trying hotpot. They explained how everything worked and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. We went for a split pot with the spicy marrow bone soup and the golden chicken soup. Both broths were full of flavour and complemented the ingredients really well. We ordered the ribeye steak, beef rolls, lamb rolls, enoki mushrooms, chips and steamed rice, and everything was fresh and tasty. Cooking everything ourselves at the table made the meal even more enjoyable. The portions were generous, it was really filling, and the whole experience was brilliant. If you're looking for something different that's fun and social, I'd definitely recommend The Palace Hotpot. We'll definitely be back!”
