Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the kababs, describing the koobideh as thin, juicy and aromatic and the shishlik and other grilled meats as tender enough to melt in the mouth. Close behind come the starters, with one regular noting the baba ghanoush always gets ordered, along with fragrant rice, fresh bread and generous portions. One diner mentions an ice cream that tasted like Turkish delight. Many describe the staff as friendly and attentive, and the room as warm and welcoming, with several noting the refreshed decor after the refurbishment. Reviewers also mention a good selection of drinks and a private function room for around 30 guests. The main caveat is service. One reviewer says a new waiter forgot to place an order after taking it, which meant a longer wait for the food, and a regular calls service occasionally wonky. Another finds the food good but nothing exceptional. The one wait was made up with a complimentary starter.

“First visit at Colbeh Persian Kitchen & Bar and honestly it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Birmingham for Persian cuisine. First impression, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and beautifully presented with a modern yet authentic Persian feel. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grilled meats were tender, juicy and full of flavour, and the rice was light, fragrant and complemented the dishes perfectly. You can genuinely tell care goes into both the presentation and quality of the food. The portion sizes were generous and well worth the price. The staff were also excellent throughout the evening attentive, polite and always making sure we were comfortable without being intrusive. Service was smooth even while the restaurant was busy, which really stood out. The restaurant itself was clean, stylish and had a great atmosphere for both family meals and evenings out with friends. Parking nearby was convenient and the overall experience felt premium without being overpriced. I would highly recommend Colbeh to anyone looking for authentic Persian food in Birmingham. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to again soon.”

“I have now been a bunch of times and never not enjoyed it. Service is occasionally a bit wonky but the food more than makes up for it. Its always worth sharing a couple of their starters. The baba ghanoush always gets ordered. The kababs they serve are pure melt in the mouth delights. Added bonus of an ice cream that if you blind taste tested me, I would assure you it was Turkish delight. Quite weird but really nice.”
