Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the shawarma and kunafa, with one praising juicy, flavorful lamb shawarma and two recommending the kunafa. Close behind are the tabbouleh, ajaj chicken wings, falafel wraps and a Dubai chocolate brownie, along with generous portions, lower prices and food that feels like home. Several describe friendly staff, a relaxed, social atmosphere with board games, and shisha with good coal service. The complaints are specific and recurring. Two separate reviewers say commentary was switched from Arabic to English during an Egyptian match after the lounge had agreed to Arabic, and one of them says the group left without an apology. One reviewer waited far longer than expected for a drink that arrived with a lemon juice lacking sugar. Another says the lamb from a grill order was hard and undercooked and service was slow, and a long-time regular reports arguments with the counter staff over tea and shisha quality. One reviewer describes buying an extra brownie to take away.

“Nice people but they serve uncooked food, I had opted for a grill and not a single lamb meat was cooked properly it was as hard as an iron! The hookah smell was everywhere, despite ordering beforehand over the phone service was rather slow not quite ideal for families! The people were nice though!”

“Went there early before the game and asked if they are putting Arabic commentary they said yes and agreed to have both terms in Arabic. Then after game started they have put both TVs on one in Arabic and one in English and the English is 1 min ahead which was very confusing and putt off to watch the game. After a long argument they managed turn the English Tv off. After 1st term, they switched to English and we had to leave and saying it’s for other customers. I did ask every single customer staying and watching they wanted Arabic commentary except for 1 who could have watched inside however the manager let us go without an apology and however the game was at 5 I was staying there with our friends from 2:30 pm foe this game. No respect”

“You can see clearly the attitude of the owner replying to our honest reviews. Before the match we asked if it’s gonna be in Arabic as we are all Arabs watching Egyptian match, as we live in a British culture you mentioned, its an Egyptian Match watched purely by Arabs and you exclusively said that match will be in Arabic for the entire match. You have been waiting for the review as you said and customer didn’t like our attitude, there were no customers but us in the lounge 😂. To be fair it was exactly 4 more 2 didn’t mind the language and the other 2 were the rude ones wanted to ruin the game. I have order 10 min before the game and I got my drink 30 min later and the lemon juice was without sugar and to ask for anything you have to wait for longer. When you leave a comment be honest and fair you have lost 15 customers for only one customer he have been asked to move to a different screen and it will be in English and he refused so you changes the whole game for one customer over 15. Thank you for your ‘’service’’ never coming back.”

“I have been a regular customer at this shisha bar for 4 years, but unfortunately, the service is absolutely terrible. Since there are no other good shisha bars nearby, I kept coming back, but I’ve repeatedly complained about the poor quality of their tea, shisha, and overall customer service. Every single time, there’s a new issue. The guy behind the counter has no idea how to treat customers properly. My friends and I have pointed this out multiple times, but instead of fixing their service, they just argue with us. I really didn’t want to leave a negative review, but they clearly don't care about their loyal customers at all. It’s absolutely shameful.”

“Simply amazing - from start to finish! Words do not give this review justice all I can say is come and experience Sultan Lounge for yourself and prepare to be amazed! From simply walking through the doors Neghmeh treated us like family and with a warm, friendly and caring smile and conversation! We ordered Shisha, drinks and falafel wraps, all of which were possibly the best in Birmingham by far. Chef Jamila creates some of the most authentic and beautiful tasting dishes (and mind you we have tried a few items on various visits) that just feel like home! Portion sizes are so generous and reasonably priced. Not to mention the wide variety of desserts which is a MUST buy as well! The shisha is flavourful and service with the coals is always top notch. The atmosphere of Sultan Lounge is gorgeous, cozy and relaxing and really feels like being transported back home. A HUGE thank you to Neghmeh, Chef Jamila and all the staff for the experience, cant wait to see you again soon!”
