About Olive Moroccan Restaurant
Olive Moroccan Restaurant serves Moroccan and Middle Eastern dishes from a small room on King St in Belper, with small tables and a two-person team. There is no drinks licence, so diners bring their own alcohol and the restaurant provides glasses. The kitchen cooks to order, working through a short list of around eight dishes that includes tagine, with lamb tagine among the versions offered, alongside falafel and stuffed vine leaves. Mezze plates are set up for sharing across the table, and baked brie with honey and spinach flatbread sit on the same menu. Vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options are available, and the team asks about allergies before suggesting a selection. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
The lamb tagine anchors most accounts, described as decadent with lamb falling off the fork and a sauce carrying just the right amount of spice, and several diners return for it. Close behind sit the falafel, called flavourful and moist, and the baked or honeyed brie, which more than one party singles out. Also praised are the mixed salad, noted for bursts of mango and blueberry against salty feta, and a simple, comforting spinach flatbread. Reviewers repeatedly describe the room as small and cosy and the two-person team as friendly and welcoming, with the owner chatty and the food cooked fresh to order. The trade-offs are named plainly: one diner found the flatbread overpriced and the stuffed vine leaves on the simple side, and wished the tagine arrived in tagine dishes. Another mentions tables are quite small and there is no drinks licence, though guests may bring their own bottles and glasses are provided. Several were guided toward sharing mezze across the table.

“Me and my partner have just left olive moments ago. I feel compelled to write this review. The second you take a breath in this restaurant you feel at home. The furniture, food and staff were most welcoming and humble. We shared an abundance of beautiful food. Libby, our waitress, a beautiful soul, was tending to us consistently throughout the evening. A huge thanks to Jacqui for having us and allowing us to try her amazing culture. Will be visiting again and bringing the world with me.”

“A lovely cozy , friendly and inviting place to eat ! The service was quick and staff were very friendly. With inclusive options for vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free . The tagine ( would have been even better if served in tagine dishes) and the mixed salad were far the best on the menu with the flatbread being overpriced at £9 and the stuffed vine leaves being a bit more on the simple side . Apart from this a fabulous place to eat !”

“Home Cooked Moroccan and Middle Eastern Food! Fun and friendly restaurant with authentic Arabian dishes. Great quality food and good value for money. Been a few times now and they now have nice new venue also. Love the falafel and the tagine, amazing!”
