Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Sunday roast, singling out the chicken and beef, crispy roast potatoes and generous portions, with the beer-battered fish and chips close behind. Others name chilli prawns, fish croquettes, a seafood linguini, a homemade chicken and mushroom pie and a smoked haddock dish, plus cheesecake and white chocolate tart for dessert. The garden and its heated booths and pods draw repeated praise, along with the selection of beers on tap, live music and easy parking. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, and one table of about 18 had food arrive hot and fast, with a birthday cake decorated with chocolate and candles. The recurring complaint is slow service in the garden pods, where one reviewer waited a long time on both visits for orders to be taken, plates cleared and dessert menus to arrive. Another found the extra gravy poured over a pie watery compared with the first serving. Several say they plan to come back, and one reviewer would travel from London just to eat there again.

“We arrived for a late lunch on Saturday, and the welcome was super friendly, warm and kind. We had a delicious late lunch, with a truly fantastic service! Food was super tasty, piping hot with excellent portion sizes. The sides were all really tasty-I’d recommend the smoked haddock dish in particular. Would come back from London just to eat here again!!”

“Absolutely AMAZING! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The food was incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was outstanding. A huge shoutout to Meg — she was fantastic! So friendly, attentive, and genuinely lovely. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Couldn’t recommend this place, or Meg, enough! X”

“Stunning gardens for summer dining occasions with accessibility and parking. Private heated booths with music and soft benches for reservations for 4 plus groups and are very cosy. Excellent variety of options for indoor and outdoor drinks and food. Menus for set meals and more delicious choices with reasonable upper end pricing. Great choices of draft beers and lagers, luxury wine list, fantastic cleanliness standards and service. We will definitely return to enjoy it again.”

“Beautiful Sunday dinner, I had the chicken and my husband had the beef! Both cooked to perfection! For a large table (about 18) the food came out fast and hot. Staff went above and beyond for my sister in law with a chocolate happy birthday and candles for her cake! The garden was also very lovely! Great selection of plants and flowers and had little safari hunts which were nice to sit in! Pub was decorated beautifully and plenty of parking!”
