About The Little Kitchen
The Little Kitchen is a Derby bistro at 156 Alfreton Rd, running a home-cooked breakfast menu by day and theme nights in the evening, with tapas and French menus on some evenings. The Full English comes with thick-cut bacon and sausages from a local butcher, and the breakfast uses locally sourced produce. Eggs Royal and fried or poached eggs sit on the same menu, and a bacon cob comes with hash brown and black pudding. The kitchen also makes soup, quiche and cake in house. Seating is a small indoor area, and reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often come back to the full English breakfast, praising thick cut bacon, sausages from a local butcher and eggs cooked with runny yolks, with one calling it the best full English they have had. Close behind is a bacon cob with hash brown and black pudding, singled out for its fluffy bread roll. Reviewers also mention a fresh soup, quiche, eggs Royal, cake and good coffee. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one party who arrived soaked from the rain was invited to sit and dry off rather than take away. The small indoor space is called adequate, with outdoor seating at the front and back, and one reviewer notes the place was heaving with no tables left without a booking. Complaints are minor: one reviewer could not swap items on the full English and found the tomatoes were tinned chopped ones, and another thought prices a little high. One late breakfast order was forgotten, and the kitchen made up for it with complimentary coffee.

“This is the most amazing hospitable establishment. We arrived mid walk on the wettest day of the year, dripping everywhere, aiming to get takeaway coffees to drink outside as we were too wet to sit indoors. The wonderful women who run this place refused point blank to let us do that, announcing that they would just mop up after us. We had an excellent home-cooked meal, a fresh soup and the best quiche I’ve ever had, followed by coffee and cake. We left plenty of puddles on the floor but were hugely appreciative of the staff and the excellent meal. Our visit could not have been bettered.”

“Amazingly, even though it's just down the road from where I live, this was my first visit to this great little cafeteria, perfectly located in the heart of little Eaton with plenty of on-street parking. The little kitchen offers an excellent breakfast made even more delightful by the excellent service. Both of the staff that I interacted with were the loveliest people not only efficient in their duty, but also with a sparkling bubbly personality that makes visiting such a place. A joy. This was my first visit but it won't be my last.”

“Nice cafe with decent selection. Got the full English and can tell the meat is of good quality. Only downside is that they do not allow swaps of items from full English, and the tomatoes are just tinned, chopped tomatoes. But overall nice food and good service.”

“Great neighbourhood cafe and restaurant. Outdoor seating front and back. Small indoor seating, but adequate. Friendly welcome. Comfortable. Nice menu. Some evenings there are evening theme nights (tapas, French etc.) Lovely baked goods. Delicious coffee, including decaffeinated. Reasonable prices. Also dog friendly 😀”

“Lovely cafe with seating inside and outside. We have been a few times and its always clean and tidy, the staff are always welcoming and friendly and the food is lovely. The prices are a little high but in the current climate they're not the most expensive. I highly recommend a visit to this lovely cafe”
