About The Tiger Inn
The Tiger Inn is a country pub at 232 Ashbourne Rd in Belper, where pie night brings a very long list of pies, and the Tiger beef pie is among the large, filling ones. Other nights carry a select few pies on the menu. A roast lunch of roast beef or leg of lamb comes with vegetables, and a steak night serves 8 oz fillets. The bar area has tables for people with dogs, and a separate restaurant area takes diners. The back of the pub looks over the valley. Parking is at the front and in a car park to the side.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the pies, with the Tiger beef pie singled out as incredible and a Thursday pie night said to offer a huge choice. Sunday lunch comes close behind, with roast beef and leg of lamb praised for decent portions of meat, and the gravy and puddings also getting a mention. One reviewer also praised the fillet steaks on steak night. Several mention generous, piping hot portions and a view over the valley from the back of the pub, and a few note that dogs are welcome in the bar. The recurring trade-off is the wait: multiple reviewers say food took a while to arrive, though they felt it was worth it, and several say the pub is busy enough that booking is advisable. Welcome at the bar draws a mixed response. One reviewer found it not particularly friendly, and another, who came in for a pint, described a bad Guinness, a dirty glass for a J2O and no personality behind the bar. Others call the staff friendly and accommodating, with one server showing an unbooked party to a table.

“Not a particularly friendly welcome at the bar. But the food and table service more than made up for it. Steak night was a revelation. Beautifully cooked 8 oz fillets. Accompaniments were more than enough. Book your table now. Sauces are £3 but share if you want the same.”

“Fantastic gem of a pub. Proper home cooked food. Brilliant staff and friendly locals. Couldn't ask for more! Can't recommend enough and will be a returning happy customer! :)”

“Walked in for a pint. Never been before.. Wouldnt harm for a personality behind the bar. Guinness was a bad pint, dirty glass for the J2o. Cider was alright and dog was happy in there.. Spent £50 for attitude.”

“Called in here as we were in the area. It did not disappoint and a mega upgrade from me being dragged round a nearby craft fair! . Although we had not booked which is highly recommended we were fairly early so the very helpful young girl showed us to a table. The Sunday lunch was delish and so nice to see decent portions of meat in both (leg of lamb & roast beef) along with a side dish of vegetables. I would happily recommend calling in here, but as above I would advise booking in advance as it was pretty busy with bookings as we left. Thursdays they do a pie night with a choice of over 160 different pies 😮👌”

“Had Sunday lunch here yesterday, we all agreed it was the best Sunday dinner we've ever had. Cooked to a tee, so flavoursome, even the gravy was delicious. Puddings also divine...planning our next visit asap. Service was also welcoming and happily met all our varied needs. Thank you”
