About The Devonshire
The Devonshire is a pub at 71 Bridge St in Belper, housed in an old stone building with modern accents inside. It holds the Derbyshire Country Pub of the Year title. The kitchen works from a menu that departs from standard pub grub, with dishes such as the trio of pheasant, Lamb Scouse and Dumplings, and Hanging Kebab. Real ales are served at the bar, and hand-cut chips come out of the kitchen. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers lead the praise, with the Derby Rib burger singled out for its beef and a brioche bun one reviewer ranks among the best they've had, and the Roman Burger also liked. Close behind are the Dirty Chicken Wrap, hand-cut chips called chunky and crispy, and the battered haddock "The Chippy". Others name the Lamb Scouse and Dumplings and the trio of pheasant, and portions are repeatedly called generous. The complaints are specific. One diner found the buttermilk chicken burger unseasoned, with hard batter and plain bacon, and the Korean wings came with a thick cold sauce. The chips arrived as skin-on wedges on a wooden board, and outdoor seating was in the car park. Another reviewer, who loved the pheasant, met a longer food wait than quoted, slow plate clearing and a long wait at the bar. One found the small drinks area noisy. A Sunday roast diner got a flat Yorkshire pudding and a dense pistachio Bakewell.

“Welcoming. Staff friendly. Lovely Sunday roast. A little disappointed on my Yorkshire pudding. I was unlucky to have a flat one compared to everyone else's. I went for the Bakewell for dessert. My expectations were of a Bakewell tart but made with pistachios. It was dense and not what I was expecting. I probably should have asked first. Would I visit again, yes I would.”

“Had a wonderful dinner here this evening. It was our first visit to The Devonshire, but I'm sure it won't be our last. It has definitely made it into our favourites. The pub is a lovely old historic stone building, which has been decorated tastefully with quirky modern accents inside. The staff were all excellent and very attentive. Felt very welcome and looked after the whole time. I ordered the Lamb Scouse and Dumplings and my partner went for the Hanging Kebab. We were both very impressed with the mains, both for the presentation and the flavour - and for once no need for food envy, because both were excellent choices. We squeezed in a dessert too, and again these were very good. Also, the toilets were also a high standard. Very clean, well appointed, nice smelling and little touches that make a place stand out - reed diffuser, nice hand soap and complimentary sanitary products available. For me, that's a sign that the people running this place have an eye for details and anticipating people's needs very well. Thanks to the lovely team for a wonderful visit today ❤️”

“The food here is top level. I had the Derby Rib burger which was incredible. The beef was good and you can tell the brioche bun is from a bakery or done in house and it was one of the best I've ever had. The portion sizes are very generous and the service was great. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to The Devonshire.”

“Food is very very good, my favourite meal comes from here (chicken wrap). The decorations are nice and I love this pub, but since the drinks area is quite small, it got a bit overcrowded and, as we were sat very close to this area, it was very noisy at times and couldn't talk without shouting a bit.”

“Called here on the off chance and we were greeted so warmly and made us feel comfortable straight away. Within 10 mins we had been asked if we were OK for everything after ordering drinks, lovely touch! Emma was our waitress and she was so lovely and even accommodated our little boy for food when there was a wait time on food, we didn’t mind as they told us before we ordered. Food was lovely and menu very different and very reasonably priced! We will be back!”
