Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the food, with the sticky toffee pudding the standout dessert at a family birthday lunch, and the Kerala fish curry and pan fried sea bass praised just behind. Others mention the pea and mint soup, the flat iron steak, the Sunday carvery and a pizza customised with spicy toppings, plus a good choice of lagers on tap. Service gets repeated credit, from a manager who quickly sorted a table mix-up to a server who added a sparkler to a celebration cake, and the pub has hosted a wedding reception and several birthdays. The main caveat is consistency and cost. One reviewer found the steak came with frozen-looking thick-cut chips instead of fries, the chicken was dry, the potatoes seemed reheated and the squid lacked flavour. Another called the food a tad expensive, and a rambling group noted the small car park and the need to give their order in advance. Others, however, called the value great and the quality consistent over repeat Friday and Saturday visits, with food arriving swiftly, correct and piping hot.

“Delicious food and great atmosphere. A great selection of ‘normal’ lagers on tap at the bar too. Our server Meg was fantastic, very friendly, and was able to pimp my pizza to add some spicy toppings.”

“A friend booked a table for 6 people for his 60 th on Saturday evening 7.30pm . On arrival there was a misunderstanding about our table, Tom ( the restaurant manager I think) stepped and sorted the problem with minimal fuss . Himself and his team gave us premium service even though the place was packed. All the food came out swiftly, correct and all together. A lovely meal, a variety of mains and desserts , excellent standard .Probably the fourth or fifth time we've eaten on a Friday or Saturday evening, very consistent quality of everything, keep it up please 👍”

“Celebrated a family members 80th Birthday at The White Hart and, wow, was it special! We plumped for the 3 course set lunch menu at £22.50 and it was absolutely stunning. We had starters of pea and mint soup which, we all agreed, was the most delicious soup we’ve had out yet. The belly pork bites were small perfectly formed and so tasty that we didn’t want them to end. Our mains involved the salmon which was fabulous, the burger which was succulent and tasty, the flat iron steak which was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth and the pork medallions which were tender and came in the most amazing sauce known to mankind! Puddings involves the lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet, which was the most zingy and lemony tart ever with a lovely crème brûlée style topping and then we had the homemade sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Wow. Just wow. The best sticky toffee pudding any of us have ever tasted. Soft, moist, rich and mustn’t missed! Service was next level with our waitress, Karaket, proving to be incredibly polite, extremely helpful and wonderfully attentive. We took a celebratory cake with us and they were even good enough to add their own sparkler to it and bring it out after the meal. Amazing service. The place itself is fantastically decorated and an extremely comfortable environment to sit and have a meal in. The outdoor area is also delightful to either eat or bask in the sun with a drink. Overall, highly recommended. Cannot wait to come back to this fabulous establishment and try the other dishes on the menu (although I don’t know how I’ll try anything other than the sticky toffee pudding because it was to die for!)”
