About The Pub in the Woods

The Pub in the Woods is a woodland pub in Ashbourne at Middle Wild Park Farm, reached on foot through the trees past a stream and over little bridges, with lights to follow along the way. Fire pits sit at the tables and staff top them up, while tipis and wooden shelters cover some seats, alongside booths and round picnic tables with bench seats. The kitchen turns out wood fired pizzas and a chicken burger, with gluten free options. Guests choose a food time slot when booking, and the food arrives at the table for that slot. Staff bring drinks and show people to their seats. A stage hosts acoustic singers and a piano player. Reservations are required, and the pub is for over 18s only.

Customer Review Summary

Live music in a woodland setting is what reviewers raise most, from two singers on stage singing Christmas songs to a piano man one diner called wonderful. Fire pits come close behind, with several describing tipis and wooden shelters, and one noting the fire pit was topped up regularly. Wood fired pizzas are praised repeatedly, and one reviewer calls the chicken burger the best they have had. Another mentions good gluten free options. Reviewers describe staff who bring drinks to the table without being asked, and several call the drinks reasonably priced. The lit walk through the trees to the pub is mentioned as part of the evening, and a couple advise suitable footwear, warm coats and blankets. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who found the coke and diet coke flat, the gin and beer disappointing, and the first music act hard to hear from their seat. That reviewer would stick to bottles in future. One group booked a taxi and others suggest doing the same. Diners choose a food time slot in advance, and one pizza order arrived right on the booked time.

“Very unique venue. Fire pits and wooden shelters to keep you warm and dry. Trees get lit up with different colours. Very cosy. Live music was great. Food was very nice. Gluten free options were good. Highly recommended!”

“Recommend this to everyone! Was hesitant at first as was unsure what to expect. But was greeted by the staff who showed us where we were sitting for the night. Before going you have a choice of what time slot you would like your food, we chose 18.30 - 19.30 which arrived at our table for 19.00. Pizzas were amazing which were wood fired. Live Entertainment began at 7 and lasted till 11pm. Atmosphere was fantastic, fire pits and outdoor lighting whilst enjoying good music and drinks. Car park is a good size and again was greeted by staff who asked if we're leaving the car overnight. We're definitely going back!”

“Can't comment on the food as didn't order. The service was great. The drinks were flat- coke/diet coke and the gin I had wasn't great. Also another member of the group commented the beer wasn't great. Would stick to bottles in future. 1st music act was hard to hear from where we sat. Piano man was wonderful!”
