About Izzy’s

Filled bagels anchor the food at Izzy's, a coffee shop on Knockbreda Rd in the Rosetta area of Belfast, where the kitchen builds them large with bacon and cream cheese or halloumi. Traybakes and pastries sit alongside the savoury side, and the food covers breakfast and brunch as well as lunch. Coffee comes either to drink in or in a cup for the walk home or the commute. Orders go in at the counter before you take a seat, with no bookings taken. Seating runs both inside and outside, so there is room to eat in the open air, and dogs are welcome to come along. High chairs mean families with young children can settle in for a meal. The doors open daily through the daytime.

Customer Review Summary

Bagels are the centerpiece for reviewers, who call them pillowy and soft. One diner describes the biggest bacon bagel they have come across, another calls a halloumi bagel 10/10, and a third praises the filled bacon and cream cheese version. Coffee comes close behind, with several naming it the best they have had, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and lovely. Reviewers also single out the traybakes and buns, a pork belly sausage roll with relish, rhubarb and custard Cruffins, and the gluten free options, along with huge portions. The one criticism comes from a customer who sat outside while their daughter ordered and was abruptly told the seat could not be taken until an order was placed, because another man wanted it. They felt embarrassed, said they would not return, and suggested a sign asking people to order before sitting, though they still called the coffee great.

“Called in this morning with my daughter and grandson, it was a beautiful day so I went to take a seat outside while my daughter ordered me a coffee, when a young girl approached me and said you can’t sit there until you have ordered a man has ordered before you and he wants that seat.. well I think this is the first time ever I have been told not to take a seat and I thought she was quite abrupt, I have coffee mornings in different locations per week and I take a seat while my daughter orders I have never been so embarrassed and told I can’t sit there I am a paying customer like any one else, Maybe my money wasn’t good enough… needless to say I will never be back but I must say to the lady who made the coffee it was a great coffee . Manners cost nothing. !! Not a good way to conduct business .maybe yous should put a sign up (Order before taking a seat. !!! And maybe this would save embarrassment to the customer…”
