Quick info
About Dream Coffee Belfast
Dream Coffee Belfast is a family-run coffee shop at 151a Donegall Rd. in Belfast, run by a mother, daughter and son. The kitchen makes homemade toasties, including a Christmas toastie filled with chicken and bacon, to go with single origin specialty coffee that changes with the season. The barista makes each drink in front of the customer, and the drinks list also includes a matcha latte and chai for those who skip coffee. Pastries sit on display at the counter, with almond croissants among them. Inside, a small seating area gives customers somewhere to stay. The shop is across the street from Belfast City Hospital.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the draw, and the cappuccino is named most often, with silky microfoam and none of the bitterness one reviewer says specialty shops can have. A hazelnut flat white, a mocha and a citrusy espresso that is not sour also earn praise, along with a matcha latte and chai. Toasties come close behind, called delicious and heavenly, and the ham and cheese croissant and almond croissant are singled out too. Reviewers repeatedly describe the barista and the family owners as friendly and welcoming, and one notes a quiet room where a drink arrived quickly with latte art on a takeaway cup. One reviewer disagrees sharply, reporting a long wait for two toasties and a coffee with only a handful of other customers in the building, an eye roll when they asked whether the Christmas toastie was turkey and ham (it was chicken and bacon), no menu description, and prices that felt pretentious. Several others ask readers to support the small family business, and one watched their mocha being made in front of them.

“Excellent customer service from start to finish! I stopped by for lunch since it’s close to work and enjoyed a coffee and toastie. The pastries on display looked absolutely divine, and I’ll definitely be back to try one next time. My coffee was lovely, the toastie was heavenly, and what really stood out was how friendly and welcoming the barista was with everyone who came in. It’s such a calm, cosy spot. I’d definitely recommend it!”

“Popped in here after checking online for coffee places close to Belfast City Hospital as I was there for a seminar. Perfectly located close to the hospital which you can access by walking across the street. The barista/owner was friendly and helpful and made a great cappuccino. Some specialty coffee places can have very bitter coffee but this was not the case here. The coffee was perfect even for a person as fussy as me about coffee. I would highly recommend it and hope this small business gets more support.”

“Had to post a review as I came away thinking what on earth was that? We paid £29 for two toasties and coffee which we then waited 30 minutes on (was told there would be a wait in fairness, but for 5 customers in the entire building that seems a bit ridiculous). Furthermore found the service rather rude, I asked was the Christmas toastie turkey and ham, to which the man working rolled his eyes at as it was chicken and bacon. No need for this as there is no menu or clear description explaining what their menu is and I was just asking politely as well. They could certainly improve on being more welcoming as I noticed a decent amount of regulars, but felt as though we were treated as an inconvenience. Nice coffee, but for the prices they are charging and the level of pretentiousness that comes with, its not worth it.”

“Went in earlier today for the first time. The staff were amazing! Super friendly and we had a lovely conversation. It’s a family business between mother, daughter and son. I ordered a mocha: it was actually the best mocha I’ve ever had. They made it in front of us, not from a machine. Their coffee blend is stunning too. I would definitely recommend”
