About Yak Yeti Yak

Yak Yeti Yak is a family-run Nepalese restaurant on Pierrepont St in Bath. It occupies a townhouse with several dining rooms, each with its own theme and Nepalese-inspired decor, and yak bells and jungle art hang on the walls. Diners can sit on the floor on cushions or mats at a slightly raised table. The kitchen offers set menus, and the food includes momos, a Yak Yeti Yak lamb dish with a hot spice option, and vegetarian and vegan dishes such as a butternut squash and chickpea dish. Dessert includes chiya ice cream flavoured with cardamom, and the cocktail menu features house specials with a Nepalese twist. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays, and reservations are required. It sits a short walk from the Roman Baths.

Customer Review Summary

Momos are the dish reviewers raise most, called authentic and home made, with several naming them a highlight alongside kale pakoras and the kale starter. Close behind are the Yak Yeti Yak lamb dish and the pork bhutuwa, which one diner suggests ordering hot for those who handle spice, plus the yellow lentil, dahl, and a butternut squash and chickpea dish from vegetarian and vegan eaters. Desserts draw praise too, including the tea-flavoured ice cream with cardamom and the kulfi, and reviewers also mention the chai and house cocktails. Several describe the rooms as differently decorated and transporting, and a few chose the floor-table seating, which one found fun and relaxed. Another found the floor mats not comfortable at all, and one diner called the food good but not spicy. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and one group of four ordered three sets to share and were already full. One reviewer notes that staff warmly welcomed them despite arriving close to closing time.

“Such a lovely place to eat, tucked away in Bath city centre. Me and 3 friends chose to dine seated on the floor, with wide cushions and a slightly raised table. It was so comfortable with a relaxed, down to earth feel - highly reccomend this approach! Everything was delicious, I particularly reccomend the Yak yeti yak lamb dish and kale starter - the chai tea was also beautiful. Our waiter was lovely and accommodating, made us feel welcome and talked us through the menu with recommendations and personal favourites. Restaurant was atmospheric with beautiful decor and cozy ambient lighting. Thank you guys!”

“A Taste of Nepal with Amazing Hospitality What a wonderful dining experience! Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff warmly welcomed us instead of turning us away. Their kindness and hospitality really made us feel appreciated. The ambience is truly unique. As soon as you step inside, it feels like you’ve been transported to Nepal. The restaurant has two or three beautifully decorated dining rooms, each with a different Nepalese-inspired theme, making the whole experience even more special. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes—they offer great value for money. The momo are a must-try; they were easily one of the highlights of our meal. If I ever visit Bath again, this restaurant will definitely be my first stop. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Nepalese food, a beautiful atmosphere, and exceptional service.”

“Great portion of food for the pricing, ordered 3 sets to share between 4 of us and already so full. Great level of spices, if you can handle spice then would defo recommend the Pork Bhutuwa & Yat Yeti Yak Lamb with Hot spiciness. Their yellow lentil is chef kiss and momos are very authentic and taste home made”

“Good food, not spicy. I’ve tried their tea-flavoured ice cream with cardamon and it was amazing. Masala was great and dense as well. Floor mat seats were not comfortable at all for me but probably because i’m completely bot used to it.”

“This is a family run, down to earth place - not fine dining at all - but serves up great food in a charming, friendly, no nonsense way. Everything we ate was delicious and a little different. Some amazing pickles and a fantastic kulfi were standouts. Drinks with a nepalese twist too. Portions are generous and the vibe is warm. Highly recommended”
