Customer Review Summary

Lamb is the dish diners return to most, whether as brochettes described as tender, perfectly seasoned and richly flavoured, as the slow-cooked lamb meshoul, or in lamb tagines, where the prunes gave one first-timer a sweet and authentic touch. Close behind are a sea bass tagine served in a clay pot with tomato sauce, mushrooms and olives, and a chicken tagine with apricots in a rich brown sauce. Starters also draw mentions, including spiced Moroccan sausages with khobz, several mezze, hummus with fresh bread and a selection of filo pastries. Reviewers describe generous portions on the four-course meal and say gluten-free ordering was easy. The owner and staff come across as warm and unhurried even when busy, and the decor and Moroccan music add to the authentic feel. The one drawback raised is the space, which one reviewer calls small and a bit tight, though cozy. Several meals end the same way, with mint tea and baklava.

“Absolutely Exceptional! Tagine Zhor was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of authentic Moroccan charm. The food was outstanding. I had the Lamb Brochette, which was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. My wife had the Lamb Meshoul, and it was equally impressive—slow-cooked, fall-apart tender, and absolutely delicious. We finished the evening with traditional mint tea and baklava, which was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere, and a truly memorable dining experience. If you’re looking for authentic Moroccan cuisine, Tagine Zhor is a must! We would absolutely return. Highly recommended!”

“There is something rather appealing about the restaurant from the moment you enter. The Moroccan decor gives the place character, with enough detail around the room to make it feel like you have stepped into somewhere with its own identity rather than simply another restaurant. I began with the Tabsil ba Stoff, a generous plate of spiced Moroccan sausages and chicken wings served with khobz and dips. The sausages were particularly enjoyable, carrying a warmth of spice and seasoning that made them immediately memorable. The chicken wings were tender and well flavoured, while the khobz provided exactly what was needed to bring the dips and meat together. It was a starter with plenty happening on the plate, yet nothing felt out of place. The Mezhor Brochettes that followed were the real highlight. The plate arrived with lamb, chicken and merguez skewers alongside rice, with hummus ordered separately. Of everything I ate, it was the lamb that stayed with me. Tender, beautifully grilled and richly seasoned, it had the sort of flavour that makes you pause for a moment before reaching for the next bite. The chicken was enjoyable and the merguez provided a welcome touch of spice, but the lamb was in a league of its own. The hummus was also an excellent accompaniment, particularly with the grilled meat and rice. Dessert was Moroccan tea with baklava, and it was a fitting conclusion. The tea had a pleasant sweetness and the baklava had everything I look for in it. Crisp, delicate layers of pastry followed by a sweet, nutty centre, with just enough richness to make it indulgent without becoming overwhelming. Paired with the tea, it made for a wonderfully satisfying ending to the meal. The service deserves equal praise. Mika was looking after the restaurant's service herself and was exceptional throughout. We were greeted with a warm smile, checked on regularly and made to feel welcome without the service ever becoming intrusive. There is something reassuring about being looked after by someone who clearly takes pride in the place. Then came an unexpected discovery. Downstairs there is a hidden Moroccan shop filled with ornaments and decorations. I had no idea it existed until I wandered downstairs and found it. It was a wonderful surprise, almost like discovering another little world attached to the restaurant, and I spent some time looking around at all the Moroccan pieces. Tagine Zhor is memorable not simply because the food is enjoyable, but because the whole experience has character. The lamb brochettes were my favourite, the baklava provided a beautiful finish, Mika made the service feel personal and the hidden shop downstairs was an unexpected delight. A restaurant with food worth returning for and enough character to make the visit stay in the memory.”

“Location is excellent, food is very delicious, and atmosphere is authentic. This was my first encounter with Moroccan food and it was a delightful experience 😋. Had the pleasure of chatting with the owner. The Moroccan gentleman seems to have put a remarkable Moroccan touch on the interior design of the place. I will certainly recommend this restaurant to friends and family.”

“We had such a lovely experience at Tagine Zhor. Mostafa, the owner, was incredibly warm and hospitable from the moment we arrived. He truly went above and beyond helping us explore the extensive menu and making thoughtful recommendations throughout the evening. We chose the four-course meal, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The portions were also incredibly generous — we left completely full and happy! The food was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and felt like a genuine taste of Moroccan hospitality. Between the amazing food and Mostafa’s kindness and attentiveness, the entire evening felt really special. We would absolutely return and highly recommend Tagine Zhor to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable dining experience.”

“I really , really loved this restaurant. It was risky because my wife and I have never been to a Moroccan restaurant- although I lead a medical mission there in 2002, and I loved the culture. When we walked in , the atmosphere gripped us as we were able to appreciate some of the quintessential Moroccan cultural symbols around the restaurant. This is truly an authentic Moroccan restaurant owned by an ethnic Moroccan, who I was told was the cook that day Music was Moroccan and it was upbeat at just the right volume. It reminded me of Portuguese music. It really added to the overall feeling of actually being in the city, like Marrakesh or Rabat, where I had visited. The waiter was an Indian gentleman, and he was very kind and you could tell he had experience in waiting on tables. One of the few times that I was actually ever asked if I was ready for my main course. I liked that because it sounded like he was trying to time the delivery of our dishes at just the optimum moment . I selected the exquisitely seasoned Seabass, which was delivered in a clay bowl with a volcanic like cover with a hole for steam release. We loved the presentation. My wife ordered a delicious chicken dish, which she loved. She’s a real chicken connoisseur and she stated that this may have been the best chicken she had ever had. Uniquely prepared in a rich brown sauce with apricots, and a variety of vegetables. The chicken was tender and moist and the Seabass was fresh and had no bones at all. It was served in the same clay bowl, in a tomato sauce with a delicious array of vegetables as well as mushrooms and cooked olives. The combination made for a highly spicy, aromatic dish that appealed to the senses. Every bite of my meal was like “eating and crying for more”. I forgot to mention the Moroccan pita bread with hummus that we ordered as an appetizer. The pita bread was very fresh and tasted like it was baked just recently. It was accompanied by an olive oil dip. My wife had a cocktail named Marrakesh, and I had sparkling water which added great refreshments and cool relief for our hot and spicy meals. Please try this Moroccan restaurant. I am 100% certain that you will be pleased and I quickly looked up whether there were Moroccan restaurants near me back home and I’m excited to try another one or two. This place was amazing !”
