About Thaikhun
Thaikhun is a Thai restaurant on the ground floor in Bath, decorated with Thai signs, street-stall imagery, and shrines meant to resemble Bangkok, with 70s-80s style decor throughout. The menu runs to 64 dishes, including Papaya Salad, tom yum soup, and basil fried rice with chicken or beef, alongside vegan curries such as green and red Thai curry with rice. Spice levels can be adjusted on request for curry dishes, and gluten-free options, including gluten-free prawn crackers, sit alongside the vegan choices. Reservations are recommended, though walk-ins are seated without one even during busy periods. The room is halal and offers outdoor seating for those who want to eat outside, high chairs for families with young children, and a step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance for visitors with mobility needs. Thaikhun opens daily, and both takeaway and delivery are available for those eating off site. Thai milk tea, served iced or hot, rounds out the drinks list.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and Tom Yum soup, alongside dishes like Thai BBQ chicken wings, papaya salad, and basil fried rice with chicken, generally praised as fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Several also enjoy the cocktails, milk tea, and the cookery class experience. Service is frequently called warm and efficient, though a recurring minority describe rude or dismissive waitstaff, slow food during busy periods, and one spilled sauce left half-wiped rather than properly cleaned. Two reviewers describe feeling racially targeted, including being rushed off a table and charged for service never received, while another felt singled out for a size correction on a water order. Some also note the tom yum and mango sticky rice tasted adapted rather than traditional. Despite these complaints, most describe returning multiple times, with one recalling a waitress who checked gluten free options and confirmed the vegan prawn crackers were suitable too.

“I have just ordered online. This is probably the best Thai food I have. The food is tasty with a big portion. The packaging was well made to make sure the food stays warm. I will definitely order again.”

“A very efficient dining experience. We hadn't booked, but we're whisked in and seated and given menus immediately. After ordering the food came very quickly. Everything we ordered was vegan. The food was amazing. We had green Thai curry with substitute chicken, red Thai curry with tofu, both with rice, plus spring rolls, corn fritters and goyoza dumplings and two lemonades for just over £50. We ate quickly because we were hungry and after deciding against dessert the bill was brought and dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great with many genuine Thai signs and other items on the walls and ceilings. We've been there before and will definitely go again.”

“Pretty nice theme, drinks are good, the pork skewer is good, and the fried thai basil and beef rice is yummy. BUT, thats it. As an asian, oh the tom yum, oh the tragedy. It has been completely adapted to the taste here, which isnt wrong of course, but is NOT good (as an asian who’s been to Bangkok). Rice, while palatable, is way too mushy as you can see. Probably a once in a lifetime visit.”

“We ate here as a family of 4 today. The food was outstanding, really tasty, full of flavour and plentiful. The service was good, it was very busy but the kitchen which is in full display was not flustered. Overall yes I would definitely recommend and will be going back to try more of the extensive range of dishes on the menu.”
