Customer Review Summary

Guests staying in the rooms, including the courtyard and stable rooms, most often praise them as comfortable, with a very comfortable super king bed, a spacious bathroom and a bedroom described as well appointed. Food is close behind. Sunday lunch, a full English breakfast, burgers, ribs, steak, sea bass, Korean sticky chicken and calamari all get mentions, alongside a good selection of beers on tap and wine. Staff and managers are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and one party of eight felt well looked after. The complaints are mostly practical. One diner returned during a new menu launch and found the restaurant manic, with an overwhelmed team and food and service below the earlier visit, though the manager handled it swiftly. Others mention lights not working in a dingy room, outdated taxi numbers in the information booklet, a hard-to-flush toilet, outdoor noise past bar closing, fire alarms going off, and a happy hour still advertised online but no longer running. One guest notes that the pub made their dog a sausage at breakfast.

“Overnight Stay, dinner and breakfast. I booked directly with the White Hart and had a room out in the courtyard for ease of access for the dog. The dog had a great welcome pack as part of the £20 fee which was a nice touch, it included complementary treats and a toy. A special bed is also provided. The room was comfortable and well equipped but as minor points, the toilet is difficult to flush (especially if you don't have strong hands) and the toiletries are also difficult to pump (in the shower). You might want to bear that in mind if you have any disabilities etc. I would have liked the towel rail switched on, as I said these are minor improvements. The TV did not connect to the WiFi for the apps. There is some blackening around the tile grout and edges of the shower, it's difficult to control. There is a fair bit of noise from the outside area of the pub until past bar closing. Some road noise to be expected given the location. Dinner was excellent quality and service. There is a discretionary service charge. Unfortunately the advertised drinks happy hour no longer exists but is still on the website. You also have the service charge on your bar drinks (I guess unless you pay separately there and then). The quality of the beer and wine was good. The dog was properly welcome in both the room and the pub both at dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was also very good quality and they made the dog a sausage which says to me that dogs are truly welcomed rather than just tolerated. Unfortunately the fire alarm had gone off a couple of times through unknown causes. It would be great to have the assembly point written on the bedroom door as well as in the booklet. A comfortable stay with excellent quality food and friendly service. Dogs truly welcomed.”

“Sam is an incredible host - he welcomed us warmly and upgraded our room. The room was well equipped and beautifully decorated with a spacious and opulent bathroom! Our food and drinks were perfect for a large family get together - we had a party of 8 and were looked after by Isabella who was attentive and caring. Burgers , ribs, steak, sea bass, chilled Riesling and an excellent selection of beers on tap. Thank you for a lovely stay! ❤️”

“This pub is really becoming the heart of the village, good service combined with delicious food and a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price it really hit the nail on the head for a place for a few drinks, food, or both! Sam one of the managers is especially attentive!”

“Went in for lunch today. Very courteous staff as we had a wheelchair. Took time to take drinks order and food order but atmosphere was relaxed and we were not hurried. Service was really friendly and not over attentive. Food was excellent with generous portions. Yes we over ordered however we were given the option to take the leftovers. Would we go again....yes in a heartbeat.”

“Dropped in without booking and got discounts on both the room and our first round of drinks. Charmaine looked after us and was very helpful. We had Sunday lunch and it was amazing. The plate was full, the meal delicious and service first class. Bedroom was really well appointed with a massive bed, small fridge and all the stuff but well done and amazing value for the price paid. Thoroughly recommend!”
