About Old Fisherman
Old Fisherman is a riverside pub on Mill Rd in Aylesbury, set on the River Thame with a brook leading to the car park. Inside, a log burner sits alongside the bar, where orders are placed. Dogs are welcome, and they get their own dog menu. A children's play area gives families something to use on site. The kitchen serves a Sunday roast, a pulled lamb shepherd's pie and a Brie tart for vegetarians, with burgers on the menu as well. The pub is open daily. The car park is large, and motorhomes have been allowed to park in return for a charity donation.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the food, with the Sunday roast and the pub's riverside setting at the centre. Roasts are called tasty and an Easter Sunday roast delicious, and a pulled lamb shepherd's pie and lamb shanks are also picked out. Close behind are the burgers, a Brie tart, calamari, scampi, chicken pie, a sharing Camembert with a meat trio, Moroccan kebabs and a brownie. A vegetarian praises the beetroot and sweet potato tart, and a keto diner says a staff member helped them find a suitable meal. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one diner says food arrived faster than expected on a busy day. Reviewers also mention the garden, the play area, a log burner, plenty of parking, and dogs welcome with their own menu. A wheelchair user found entry easy and the table height right. The one criticism is from a reviewer who says the building could use some refurbishment in places. Another reviewer says they parked a motorhome overnight and made a charity donation.

“It was my first time here and I just want to say the food was delicious! The pub is in a very nice area, and it was very clean as well. I had the Moroccan kebabs, cheese and bacon burger and the brownie, it was 10/10. It was very yummy and I definitely recommend”

“Great evening at this beautifully located pub set right on the edge of the river. Staff are fantastic and our supper was delicious. Burgers, Brie Tart, calamari were the orders of the day and all were delicious! Highly recommend The Old Fisherman in Shabbington.”

“Our first visit but definitely not our last! We've often passed this pub but we decided to stop for a meal last week. Situated in a beautiful spot by the river there is seating inside and out, there is plenty of parking and a children's play area. We decided to sit inside and we ordered at the bar, my husband had chicken pie and I ordered the scampi. As it was busy we were advised there would be a little wait and actually our food arrived much faster than we expected, great sized portions and really good value. Super friendly staff and a really smashing pub to visit. Thank you!”

“We came for Sunday lunch. I used to frequent this pub a lot many years ago - it's essentially unchanged - the food and service were of a really good standard (especially the service - very friendly and not the painful wait that you experience in a lot of pubs nowadays). Roasts were tasty, as was the pulled lamb Shepherds pie. The only observation for a bit of improvement was just the pub looks like it could use a bit of refurbishment in places. However don't let this out you off a good experience. Definitely worth the visit.”

“We popped in during a visit from Wales, The lady that served us was so lovely, she helped me navigate the menu, I'm on the keto diet and I managed to order a lovely meal, the whole family enjoyed the food, the service was fantastic, we will definitely be returning! I didn't get the managers name, but she was amazing! Thankyou for taking the time with me. I 💯 recommend you xxx”
