  “I’ve chosen six bells to celebrate my birthday dinner and honestly I could’ve not chosen a better place!!! Everyone ordered the steak platter and they were all amazed with the portion size and all the flavour. The service was amazing, thanks to all the staff who made my day even more special!!”

  “Best roast I’ve had at a pub by a long shot, especially the cabbage with lardons underneath it all! Beef and chicken were both excellent, and the gravy was the real deal - and I say this as a fussy yorkshireman. I like a bit more of a pancakey Yorkshire but this was by no means bad. Service was quite slow, but we came in with no booking towards the end of lunch.”

  “Absolutely delicious. We ordered steak platter, they honestly mention that in takes around 45 minutes, but totally worth it. Also tried their burger - perfect 👍 Very nice beer garden. Friendly staff.”

  “Amazing steak platter for 2. Steak cooked perfectly and the portion was so big me and my partner didn't even get to finish it. Would definitely recommend if it's your first time in Oxford!!”

  “We recently visited for a special birthday celebration and overall the food was really good, everyone enjoyed the taste of their meals. Unfortunately, there were several issues with the service that really affected the experience. We had brought a birthday cake as a surprise to the bar when we arrived prior to the birthday quest, but after the server came over to our group at the table, which included the birthday guest, and said, “I see you have given us a cake, it will cost £1 per person to serve it.” This completely ruined the surprise, which was really disappointing. A complimentary drink was offered afterwards, which we appreciated, but it still feels like this is something staff should handle much more discreetly. Food itself also took a long time to come out. When it finally arrived, even tho we pre ordered, it was brought out very staggered, to the point that some meals were going cold while waiting for the rest of the table to be served. Most disappointing was that the child in our group was served last, which really shouldn’t happen. The quality of the food saved the evening to some extent, but the service and handling of the birthday cake surprise definitely need improvement.”

  “THE best veggie burger I have had outside my home - my husband would be upset if I said it was better than his, but it came exceedingly close. Smashed squash burger and it was truly delicious, hugely flavoursome and fabulous textures. It all really worked. I'm not a fan of red pepper, but I think you had some in the sauce and it still rocked. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the smashed beef burger and the fries were cooked to perfection. Beautifully served. All members of staff who we spoke with - three or four of them - were super friendly. Thanks guys. 4 stars for atmosphere - although we were the only people in there - it was a Wednesday at 2pm but we have imagination and assume it would be awesome in the evening! There's also parking onsite. I would highly recommend this place....lunch...dinner....lunch again....yum!”

  “First time visiting, the food was great, we chose the Korean wings which were very good, covered in spicy gochujang sauce. The steak platter was excellent with perfectly cooked medium steak, super chunky chips, large garlic mushrooms, fried bacon and cabbage with roasted peppers and side salad. The children's menu was also great with smashed burger, chicken goujons and fries. The only bit holding back from a 5 star was that the steak platter took 1 hour and 20 minutes. We were happy to wait but would have been great to be kept informed. The waiting staff did seem like a new team and still getting the hang of things but overall was a positive experience and will look to come back again soon”

  “Didn't know what to expect with this place, the outside looks a little 'local' if you know what I mean. Wow, this is one not to be missed! The food is fantastic, the staff could not be more accommodating and the atmosphere was perfect. We ordered the steak platter.....will be dreaming of this for the next few days. The steak was cooked the perfect mid/rare, chips chunky and crispy and the cabbage laced with bacon....winning!”

  “We had a wonderful dinner at The Six Bells and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The food was outstanding, the steak platter in particular was superb, generous portions and great quality throughout. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back🥰”

  “Friendly welcome. Unpretentious. Good pale ale. Nice decor. It's not a gastro-pub but the butter chicken and chicken burger were both perfectly decent and reasonable value. There were a number of larger groups eating and it feels well set up for that. The only minor improvement would be if they kept the kitchen door shut to keep the noise down.”
