Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, from the real ales to a Meantime IPA, with several praising the selection and the cold pints. The Sunday pub quiz comes close behind, described as packed, friendly and manageable, with an excellent quiz mistress, and one visitor found a jazz night popular on a Monday. Food draws mixed reports. Some name the Beef Ultimate Burger, halloumi fries, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding, a mushroom pie and a mushroom pizza with chili oil, while others say no food was served or the kitchen was closed, and one adds that bringing in outside food is welcome. Staff are called friendly and helpful by most, though one visitor met swearing over parking and a miserable man behind the bar when asking about food. Dogs are welcome, and board games, a darts board and a beer garden come up too. One reviewer says the darts need replacing, but they managed.

“No food served. Great neighbourhood pub. Very friendly bar staff. We did a quiz there on Sunday night and the place was packed full of friendly people. The questions were manageable. Quiz mistress was excellent.”

“Just popped in. Was greeted by an old man. Swearing saying we were parked too but plenty of room. Went in asked if they were served food and was greeted also by a miserable man behind the bar. GO to the red lion if you want a friendly pub with excellent food”

“My first visit to this little hidden gem of a pub! They had a Jazz night which proved to be very popular for a Monday night. Unfortunately they don't serve food but uniquely you are more than welcome to bring your own or order in and have food delivered! Plates and cutlery will be provided on request. Offering a good choice of real Ales I was served by Emma who was so friendly and welcoming. I'm really looking forward to my next visit. Cheers 🍻”
