About The Rusty Bicycle
The Rusty Bicycle is a pub at 28 Magdalen Rd in the heart of East Oxford, just off Cowley Road, and it is the first pub opened by Dodo Pub Co. The kitchen makes Neapolitan pizzas on a sourdough crust, including a margarita pizza. Burgers come in meat, veggie and vegan versions, with an Impossible veggie burger among them, and truffle chips are also on the menu. At the bar, ales and beers are on tap, alongside craft beers, cocktails and soft drinks. Inside, a log fire burns, and the team brings orders to the table after guests pull up the menu by QR code. The pub takes both bookings and walk-ins, and it is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza draws the most praise, with reviewers describing a crispy sourdough base, fresh ingredients, great sauce and a weekday deal on margarita pizzas, often arriving fast to hungry tables. Burgers come close behind, including an Impossible veggie burger one reviewer calls better tasting than a McDonald's, and truffle chips and a margarita also get a mention. The ales on tap and good beer earn repeated approval, and several like the garden, the shaded outdoor seating and the log fire on a freezing evening. The main complaint is the bar staff. One reviewer felt ignored by bartenders for a minute and describes a weird attitude, while another calls a barman moody and rude, including toward other staff, which dampened several visits. One diner found the Big D double no bigger than a single, though the taste was good, and another finds the drinks expensive. Dogs are welcomed with water and treats.

“Great place. Good beer. Mostly. Barman moody and rude. Not engaging with customers and flirting with a barmaid. Rude to his other staff. Put a dampener on the last few visits. Shame”

“Bartenders are usually really cool but today we felt as if we were inconveniencing them by ordering drinks, they just ignored us for a minute or so. They just seemed a bit off and were sort of eyeballing each other when I came out of the loo at one point. . Just a weird attitude all around.”

“Had drinks at The Rusty Bicycle and really enjoyed it. Relaxed atmosphere, good crowd, and one of those pubs that actually feels welcoming rather than overly polished. Great spot for a sunny evening drink in Oxford.”

“Happened upon this gem just off the Cowley Road on a freezing January Saturday evening. The log fire was welcoming and the Pizzas and Burgers are absolutely fantastic. 👍 I can't comment on the drinks unfortunately as I've started my dry January. 👎”
