About The Fir Tree Pub
The Fir Tree Pub is a pub on Iffley Road in Oxford, with a Victorian-style bar dating from 1866 that still shapes the room. Food centres on thin-crust pizzas, listed by name and including a Pizza Funghi, with a weekday happy hour on them. Once a week a pop-up takes over Sunday lunch with a vegan roast and several options to choose from. Behind the bar there are beers on rotation, among them a Yorkshire bitter and a hazy IPA, plus cider. Drinkers arrive without booking, since the pub runs on walk-ins, and dogs are welcome alongside them. Board games sit ready for anyone settling in for a longer visit. It opens daily in the evenings, fills up early on weeknights and keeps serving for late-night drinks. A jar of mini eggs sits on the counter.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza is what most reviewers return to, with the thin crust pizza called excellent and the Diavola and a garlic pizza named specifically. One group of six tried six different pizzas and finished every slice, and several mention the weekday happy hour deal of buy one get one half off. Beer is close behind, with reviewers praising an excellent, interesting selection that includes a Yorkshire Bitter and a Hazy IPA. The weekly vegan Sunday roast also earns praise, described as massive with several options, and one diner says the vegan chef happily shared cooking tips. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and reviewers describe a warm, cosy, quirky local with a good atmosphere, including as a late night spot for last drinks. The main complaint is limited food. One reviewer found only pizza on offer and an out of date online menu, while another found the dough too thin in the middle, though still tasty. One reviewer's favourite touch was a jar of mini eggs on the counter.

“This is a favourite pub : although it's my local, I only discovered it recently, thanks to a friend. Lovely ambiance (busy, even on weekday early evenings), friendly staff, great beer - and excellent pizza - definitely some of the best in …”

“WOW!🤩 This was such a gem and just what we were looking for on Tuesday evening (11/11) when we arrived in Oxford for our stay. We wanted a real English pub with some snacks and play some board games to kick start our mini break and we had THE BEST TIME🙌🏽! Loved the decor, staff were incredibly friendly, great range of drinks and snacks and we also had one of their pizzas. I think the dough was rolled out a little too thin in the middle but it tasted great and fresh, very generous on the toppings too. My favourite bit was the jar of mini eggs on the counter. 🤭. Having working in hospitality myself for over 15years, this truly made my day as it’s so unusual but absolutely fantastic. Overall, we had a lovely time and will most likely visit again if we’re in Oxford. 👌🏽”

“Unfortunately I popped in just before closing but will revisit this beautiful, traditional and quirky pub again. I haven't been here in over 40yrs. It's still as warm as cosy as I remember it …”
