  “Disappointing meal with family at the Plum Pudding very poor service from start to finish. Table was booked for 9 people well in advance but upon arrival was told we had to sit on two separate tables. Multiple items missing from the starters menu as we found out after ordering instead of being informed beforehand… All roast beef dinners ordered arrived without Yorkshire puddings which again was not informed prior to ordering it was just delivered to the table without and was told by the waitress ‘oh sorry they’ve ran out’ Deserts were fine however was told we all had to use teaspoons as the rest of the cutlery was in the wash!! Hopefully this was just a one off but would need major improvement in the restaurant management side of the business for me to even consider a return in future.”

  “The Plum has had a few owners of late but I must say, the new lads who recently took over are putting it back to what it should be and always used to be, a fantastic village pub with great quality food at a reasonable price and a lovely choice on the menu. The beer is back to being good quality so well worth a visit for some grub and a gargle. Now run by a young lad born and bred in the village, it just shows what locals can do when they put their mind to it and are also given community support, go on lads, keep doing what you’re doing.”

  “Love having a pint next to the canal here after walking the dog, it’s dog friendly and water bowls are provided. Very relaxing, friendly atmosphere, great service. Menu is expensive for a local pub, £7.50 for a scotch egg!! Usually pay £2.50/£3 in other locals.”

  “An excellent experience – on both visits! I first encountered the Plum Pudding whilst on a meander back from Stafford on 4th March 2025: my dining companion has issues with Gluten and Lactose Allergies in addition to being Type 1 Diabetic, so we were delighted with the warm reception we received and the care and attention to detail paid to his needs by our waitress: friendly and helpful, she put us both at ease – and her recommendations from the weekday Menu gave us a budget price but delicious and thoroughly enjoyable 2-course meal apiece. Fast forward to 22nd February 2026: My 91-year-old Mum, the same family friend and I revisited for a Saturday lunchtime meal. We discovered that the place had changed hands but were warmly greeted by Maria who explained that she was also moving on but for good rather than the wrong reasons. By contrast with our previous visit, on this day the restaurant area was empty, so we had a pick of dining tables and selected a window seat. Across the very clean and tastefully decorated room, a lovely wood-burning stove had been lit, which added positively to the atmosphere on an otherwise sunny, but nonetheless cold day outside. The same warm staff reception was received and we were left unhurried to browse the menu. It was nice to see that the ‘2 Courses for £12’ Lunchtime meal offer extended into the weekend (many do not) and my 2 dining companions chose Ham and Eggs as their main course, one opting for soup as a starter, and the other for Ice Cream as a dessert. I chose from the main menu and elected for a Scampi and Chips. Upon serving, portions were fresh, well presented, hot, and generous in size for the prices charged. They were also delicious and filling and upon finishing, all three concurred that we were full and very satisfied. With a Diet Lemonade, a Guinness Zero and a pot of Tea, the final bill came to around £47, which is second to none, given the portion sizes. For whoever has taken on stewardship of The Plum Pudding in recent weeks since our visit, you have a real asset of a place: clean, comfortable, simple, and with an excellent Canalside Terrace from which it will be a pleasure to sample food and drink in the coming summer months. Although based in Tamworth, the half-hour journey is well worth the pleasant experience awaiting you – and I have recommended the same to Friends and work colleagues alike. Hopefully, we’ll see you again soon. 😊”

  “Wanted to find a place for some food and to watch Wales vs Scotland in the Six Nations, and the staff were extremely accommodating. They gave us a table right in front of the TV and changed the channel for us! The food was well-priced, came quickly, and was very nice! The staff were great, and locals were all lovely!”

  “We moored outside after a long day. The landlady and staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu has great options supplemented with a specials board. We both had the lamb kofta burger and oh my goodness me it was an absolutely amazing. So much flavour and the chutney. Oh my word. The French fries were delicious too. We’ll definitely visit again.”

  “Great pub for good value pub grub. Very helpful and happy staff, good selection of wine, beer and food. Will be coming back again. Also handy as we live on the canals and can moor up alongside the pub 😀 19th October 2024 Popped in again as we were moored up alongside the pub. Nothing has changed , thank god. Still great food, good wine and friendly staff. Always worth a stop off.”

  “What a fantastic canalside pub. The food was amazing, very fresh and tasty. Staff friendly and attentive. Lovely comforting bar area. We are staying in a camper van on the carpark for the night with permission in return for our custom. definitely recommend and stay again 👍🏻”
