About Brewhouse & Kitchen - Lichfield

Brewhouse & Kitchen - Lichfield is a pub on Bird St in Lichfield that brews its own ale on site. Weekly masterclasses cover brewing, beer, whisky and gin, and the team also hosts rum masterclasses and paired tasting experiences. A tasting flight lets drinkers work through the house-brewed ales, and a selection of craft beers and other drinks runs alongside them. The kitchen serves lunch, brunch and buffet meals. Its menu includes beercan chicken, small plates and burgers, and a warm chocolate brownie comes out in a skillet. The pub is open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Diners return mainly for the house-brewed ales, with one reviewer enjoying a tasting flight and another a pint of the own bitter, and several praising the wider beer choice beyond the brewery's own. Close behind are the brewery experiences, including a rum masterclass with six rums tasted and a pairing session, where the host is described as knowledgeable and friendly. Food draws mixed but mostly warm comments: beercan chicken with a portion big enough to share, burgers cooked perfect, and small plates. One reviewer wished the chocolate brownie were again served warm in a skillet. The sharpest complaint comes from one diner who found the schnitzel and ribs very dry, the slaw sparse, and tables sticky on two separate visits, with food slow to arrive from an understaffed floor. Others note a dog friendly pub with treats for the pooch, a little beer garden and ceiling fans, and one suggests reserving when busy. In one case, a problem with a food order was quickly rectified.

“Went here yesterday as we had been previously and really enjoyed the warm chocolate brownie and my husband likes to try the different craft beers. We ordered the small plates which we enjoyed followed by the chocolate brownie but were disappointed that it wasn't served warm in a skillet as the previous occasion. Although it was nice it certainly wasn't as memorable as the one in the skillet. Please go back to the original recipe. All the staff were pleasant, just wished we had mentioned this at the time.”

“Jonny was lovely, absolutely made the experience! Explained very well what each pairing was, where it was from etc and really good to talk too throughout the time we were there, would 100% recommend going to one of the experiences here!”

“Food quality poor I had the schnitzel which was very dry the slaw you shouldn’t have bothered with as a few strips of apple and fennel, a slaw does not make. Portion size average too. My husband had ribs again very dry needs to be a lot more sauce son had steak which he said was good however. Also could you please clean your tables with something better as they were sticky also went in for a drink the next day and different table still sticky. Service- the waiter did his best but under staffed I think and food took a long while to come out would think twice about eating there again as food didn’t seem as good as previous visits.”

“I came in with my friend for lunch and the food was lovely. We both had burgers and they were cooked perfect and tasted really good! Laura was the chef on shift at the time and we were served by Meg who was very friendly and helpful with our order. Lovely little spot for some lunch”
