About Café On the Wolds
Café On the Wolds is a café and breakfast restaurant on the High Street in Market Weighton, open daily for daytime service on a walk-in basis. Brunch items such as eggs on toast, beans and mushrooms on toast, and bacon sandwiches sit alongside soup and bread, and gluten free bread and desserts are available. At times the menu is reduced due to temperature. The entrance is step-free, making it accessible for visitors with mobility needs, though the toilet is outside and up a step. Outdoor seating gives an option for eating outside, and high chairs make the space workable for families with young children. Dogs are welcome and are offered treats and water. Parking is available outside the café or in a nearby car park.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer describes being left without help when another customer took a window table and a fellow diner complained about a small dog, so they left without ordering. Another was told of a reduced menu due to the temperature, was not told what it included, and was pointed to other cafes. A third found brunch eggs shrivelled and overcooked on dry toast, though the beans and mushrooms on toast were good. One reviewer notes the toilet is outside and up a step, and another suggests a draught excluder for the front door.

“A lovely warm and welcoming cafe on the High Street in Market Weighton. We had walked in from Goodmanham and it wasn’t until later that I realised that I had brought in mud and twigs on my shoes but it wasn’t a problem. We had coffee and chocolate bars as it was mid morning but if we had visited later in the day there was a very comprehensive menu and the cake looked very tasty. Very nice coffee with a choice of milk. Other points to note: dog and children friendly. There’s a lovely outdoor seated area. The toilet is outside and up a step so not easy access. Well worth a visit; only sorry that I forgot to take more photos.”

“I went in on Sunday and we got a warm welcome from Megan and Shannon, smiles all around, the service was quick, drinks were lovely and the food was spot on. An amazing variety of gluten free deserts and dishes!”

“Today I headed into Market Weighton after a very nice dog walk to try for the first time the Café On The Wolds. On my second attempt to secure a table I was successful and the young girl at the counter said to go to table 2 by the window and she would take my order. However a man appeared from the other end of the café and promptly took the table in front of me and staff in the café did not help me at all and stood and looked at me without intervening !! Then the lady on the next table moaned about my small dog and this is a dog friendly café!?! At no point did staff help me or resolve the situation!! I was forced to leave without being able to have a drink or sample any food. I have been left feeling very frustrated and annoyed over the whole situation. I will NOT be returning again as this is not the way I expect to be treated as customer !! Finally the local people of this town need to accept that people will visit and not treat them differently and not make us feel uncomfortable and create an atmosphere when I visit your café !!!!!!”

“Have had excellent food/service here before. Sadly this time, my brunch was poor. Eggs on toast. Shrivelled overcooked eggs on dry toast. Had to ask for butter. Still very poor. I must say, however, my wife had beens and mushrooms on toast and it was good. I dont feel i will return.”
