Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the cakes, all of them vegan, from a plant-based cheesecake to chocolate fudge cake with warm chocolate sauce and vegan apple spice cake. Close behind are the savoury plates, including the Middle Eastern Platter, the Summer Special Frittata, vegetable tarts and quiches, a mushroom burger with sweet potato wedges, and a banh mi of marinated tofu with apple coleslaw. Diners also mention fresh Rooibos tea, mango tea and a cream tea. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and one vegan, gluten-free reviewer found them fully allergy-aware. The room is called relaxed, with impressive art dotted around, seating upstairs and a courtyard out back. On the downside, one reviewer found a main slightly expensive, and another with leg problems found the toilets, two stories up steep stairs, quite difficult. Two separate visitors on short York trips came back twice, and another took home a box of the Rooibos tea.

The food was so good that we visited twice during our weekend trip to York. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully prepared. We enjoyed the Middle Eastern Platter and the Summer Special Frittata, both of which were absolutely delicious. “I enjoyed my meal and dessert. Main meal was slightly on the expensive side. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, not too many people in, the decor was nice. The toilets are two stories up steep stairs, something to be mindful off, as someone with leg problems this was quite difficult. Really great vegan options, I enjoyed a cream tea. Staff were mostly pleasant.”

“Fantastic vegetarian restaurant with a plethora of options, vegan included. Their whole range of mains is amazing, a true way to celebrate vegetables in all their glory. Loved the vegetable tarts and quiches, the Mediterranean planner was also incredible. Portion sizes are copious. Delicious food, cannot recommend it enough, we came back twice for lunch during our short visit to York.”

“First things first, the staff are lovely! I was given such personal and attentive service. I’m both vegan and gluten-free, and the staff were fully allergy-aware and knew exactly what was in the food and drinks. The food was absolutely delicious too, with really lovely flavours, and everything was beautifully presented. It’s one of those places you leave in a good mood. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in York!”
