Customer Review Summary

Bottomless brunch draws the warmest praise, with two reviewers describing staff who kept second and third rounds of drinks coming, handled allergens, and applied no pressure. Close behind are the fish and chips, singled out twice, and extra crispy chicken wings with buffalo and bbq sauce, ordered with chorizo and halloumi and hummus and flatbread. Two reviewers also like the weekday deals, and one suggests taking advantage of them. Complaints centre on a pub that is often packed. One group's table for eight for a World Cup match was cut to six, with a shorter slot, no guaranteed TV view and a 3pm arrival to hold an 8pm booking. Another diner waited around 50 minutes on quiz night and got lukewarm fries and peas and a hard yolk. One reviewer found the two bar staff on a Sunday woeful, and a vegan shiitake taco was off because the mushrooms were never ordered. On the long wait, the server apologised.

“First time coming here we sat outside since it was a sunny day. Their outdoor seating is nice, some have little roofs over the table. The food has a decent amount of options and everything we ordered was lovely, my family mostly ordered little dishes to share. I was looking forward to trying shiitake mushrooms taco (vegan) however they sadly forgot to order the mushrooms so was unable. I instead got the hummus starter with spring rolls. When ordering at the bar they gave me a tablet to view my items to ensure they had no milk in due to me being lactose intolerant.”

“Very disappointed with the service recieved. We booked a table for 8 people well in advance for a world cup fixture, and called today to confirm it (there wasn't anything to suggest that it wasn't confirmed). For some reason, they gave every excuse under the sun as to why we couldn't have the reserved table. First, they could only accommodate 6 - fine we will make do. Next, they couldn't give us the time requested, and reduced it by a couple hours, and then they couldn't guarantee view of a TV. Still we were okay to go ahead. And then after all that, we'd have to turn up at 3pm (bearing in mind it's a weekday when most of us work) and stay on the table to be able to have the booking which was originally 8pm. At this point we could tell they clearly didn't want us there and just gave up. Why accept bookings if you can't fulfill them, and it took for us to ring up and confirm to find out. We have friends visiting from out of town and had we turned up on the day it'd have been a major disappointment. Used to be a great local and recently it's clearly absolutely filled beyond capacity to the point table bookings are irrelivent.”

“Six of us enjoyed an excellent afternoon of food and drinks at the locally renowned Black Bull in Yarm. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I’d definitely recommend taking advantage of the Mon–Fri 12–6 deal, which offers great value without compromising on quality. A great spot for food, drinks, and a catch-up with friends — no doubt we’ll be returning.”
