Quick info
About The Isaac Wilson
On Wilson St in Middlesbrough, The Isaac Wilson is a pub at number 61 that puts a parmo on the menu next to cask ales and canned local Middlesbrough beer. Food runs to jacket potatoes and Southern Fried Chicken loaded fries, so the kitchen covers lighter plates as well as the parmo. The interior is dark, with vintage architecture and signs and plenty of seating for a table of friends. Pints are poured at the bar, where drinks are ordered at the counter. The pub works on a walk-in basis, with no reservations needed.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on the food, the most discussed draw. Happier diners call the menu good value and delicious, mention a good selection of cask ales and a can of Middlesbrough beer, and describe fast, friendly service. Others say the pub has declined. Two suspect new management after the menu shrank, prices rose and portions fell, and one notes almost no vegan options beyond a jacket potato. Several report items being out of stock. Specific misses include a parmo that arrived as a chicken burger with bechamel sauce and cheese, a BLT called terrible, and Southern Fried Chicken loaded fries that were barely loaded. Two reviewers describe waits of over half an hour, with forgotten or wrong orders reaching the table. One reviewer describes a bar worker snapping at a customer waiting for another pint, claiming others were ahead of him. Another had to tell the bar staff that the men's urinals were about to overflow.

“The food was great. The only problem I really had was with the Mens toilet. I had to report to the bar staff that the urinal's were going to over flow.”

“Orderer a parmo and they brought me a chicken burger out with a spread of bech sauce and some cheese on top. The food used to be spot on but I wouldn't waist my money. Had a BLT the day before and that was terrible as well”

“Staff are nice, food was not value for money. We didn't have to wait long for food. I got Southern Fried Chicken loaded fries, which were barely loaded. Very disappointing. Tea and coffee machine not working.”

“This place has gone to the dogs ! Use to be a great place now it seems to be miss managed, some of the staff aren’t very customer focused and the attitude of one female member when I witnessed a gentleman patiently waiting for a another pint , the staff member in question( ginger lass with glasses on large built ) barked at the customer saying “ there other customers before you “ etrrmmm there wasn’t ! If she hadn’t been ignoring customers at the bar she would have known this ! Stay away ! Lost some superb staff ! RIP Isaac Wilson”

“The Isaac used to be our go to place on a Sunday, menu selection was good, reasonably priced with good portion sizes. This visit changed all that, the menu has been massively reduced - almost no vegan options at all (unless you want a jacket potato) and prices have been raised a little too much. Also seemed to be out of stock of slot of items Not sure if Isaac were too slow in adjusting their prices or if it's new management, but it certainly wasn't a patch on what it used to be. Of the 4 orders placed, 2 were correct and served within half an hour, two took over half an hour and one was the wrong thing. All in all, won't be back and wouldn't recommend”
