Customer Review Summary
The beer garden, with its outlook over fields, is what reviewers raise most, alongside a log fire in winter and a good pint of Wye Valley. The food comes close behind. Diners single out the pork belly, a steak cooked to perfection, chicken schnitzel and roast dinners, plus a cheesecake pot described as epic and an apple and rhubarb crumble. Portions are called plentiful, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful. Criticism is limited but specific. One visit involved a wait on food and especially on the post-meal coffees. Another reviewer found the roast potatoes solid and not fresh, though the other vegetables were good. A single reviewer felt the manager stared at anyone who was not a local and found the place cliquey. Birthday meals feature in several reviews, and one Sunday visitor finished two roast dinners and a bottle of Primitivo with that crumble.

“Roasts were tasty but the roast potatoes were poor, rather solid and didn’t taste fresh. Other veg were good. Staff helpful and we enjoyed the meal.”

“Could be a great place, unfortunately let down by the manager who seems to stare at you if you arent a local, its one of those cliquey type places that pretend to be welcoming to all. But actually you get the feeling you have just walked into someone's home uninvited.”

“This is a favorite of mine, great choice of beers, ciders, wines and alcohol free drinks. Awesome staff at All times and the food is a cut above the rest. Worth a drive out as the atmosphere in the winter round the raging log fire is amazing, the be garden in the summer is fantastic. Don't miss out on the fireworks, bbq evening and other amazing events.”

“Called in on the off chance after a visit to the hospital, 5pm Sunday visit and greeted warmly by a professional gent. Seated and looked after the whole time we was there .lovely bottle of Primitivo with 2 roast dinners and finished off with a cracking apple and rhubarb crumble. Couldn’t fault our visit and will return soon. Thanks very much ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️”
