About The Swan
The Swan is a pub at 28 New St in Worcester, with an on-site grill run by Smokin Brads that turns out burgers and loaded fries. The burger list is wide and includes a bacon cheese burger, while a brisket roll sits on the food menu for anyone after something other than a burger. At the bar, draught pints sit alongside cocktails and a selection of gins. Music is loud, and the pub shows no sport. A pool table gives groups something to do between rounds, and live music is part of the setup. Dogs are welcome inside, so walkers can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers from the grill are what reviewers raise most, and opinion is split. Praise centers on the bacon cheese burger described as juicy, with crispy fries and very tasty but hot chicken wings, while another diner calls the burgers generous but not huge and the beef tasty. The loaded fries drew a nice word even from a critic who found both burgers exceptionally dry, one completely burnt. Cocktails and a selection of gins also get a mention. Several reviewers describe friendly, attentive staff and good value, yet others report a bartender who never greeted them, a long wait to be served, and a refusal to serve at 10:40pm with no last orders called. One diner said an IPA tasted acrid and the server would not pursue it. Others call prices high, with one disappointed that happy hour meant only a small reduction on beer. One group had an order problem in the kitchen that the team fixed, and they left happy.

“Went in,no one behind the bar,a minute or two later a server appears and quite abruptly said she was serving at the top end of the bar, ( three steps away ) and could we move to her. Got served and went outside to the patio area, I must say at this point we had to negotiate a very dark passage to the outside. Not good value either,£10.70 for a pint of carling and a pint of Staropramen. I am not one to penny pinch but this experience will not bring me back. Plenty of other places in the immediate vicinity that will see my custom.”

“Stopped in for a pint, 15 November, 1400. Bartender was sitting behind the bar. When I approached, she didn't greet me, just glared at me until I asked for a pint of Stowfords. Still never said a word, just acted bothered. I noticed a plate of food and apologized for interrupting her lunch. She said "Wha?" I repeated my apologies. She gave me a confused look. I said, You act annoyed with me. She just grunted and finished the pour. The only thing she said to me was the price for my pint. It's a cool old bar tho. I'm sitting under the stairs.”

“Looks like a good pub but I went to get a burger and loaded fries after seeing the Instagram posts. Its always tricky because its easy to make food good look good but the proof of the burger is in the... well y'know. Sadly this is a hard no. The BigOlMoose loaded fries were nice with a good flavour but both burgers were exceptionally dry, and one was completely burnt. Maybe the quality varies but if you want a quality burger in the area I'd go to Sweet Buns in Malvern, Beefy Boys in Hereford - or if you need Worcester then The Burger Shop or Han Bao both a world better. These were really really bad but also very pricy.”

“Took forever to get served, despite being the only one waiting, because the barmaid was too busy scoring the guys at the bar out of 10, no I'm not kidding. Then go to the bar again at 10:40pm to be told "no more", no last orders called, haven't even closed yet but not even time to get one more half in because she 'hasn't clean yet'. Been past recently and they'd closed early so not surprised at tonight. Next time I won't even bother and will walk a bit further to the Eagle or heroes, absolute waste of my time and money. Shame because it's a nice spot”

“Disgracefull. Ordered a pint of IPA, it had a very acrid and off taste. I questioned this at the bar and was told by the guy who served me that he was unable to confirm if it was Off as he could not taste it ??, he then went on to say it was a new barrel but as there were no bits evident in my pint he considered it to be fine and told me that he had served what I had asked for and was not prepared to pursue the matter. What a disgrace, would never visit this pub again.”
