Customer Review Summary
The complaints are split. One reviewer found the staff unfriendly and the food not very good, another called the local punters and staff somewhat unwelcoming, and a third says the beer made them feel rough and the music has shifted from Motown and summer songs to dark heavy metal. One reviewer who stayed at the basic campsite notes there are no showers or electric, and finishes with a warning that anyone with high expectations may be disappointed.

“In many ways a lovely place, tucked away by the river. Sadly the staff weren't very friendly and the food wasn't very good. Fix those and this place could be great.”

“Lovely place but changed so much used to be packed happy jolly vibe, motown and summer songs... now its dark moody heavy metal.. and as for the beer dont do it.. it used to be rough cider now it just makes you feel rough..”

“Brilliant place, right next to the river so it's picturesque and you can go for a walk to walk off the foo you just ate. Portion sizes are.quite large. So go with an appetite! Amazing atmosphere and staff are friendly. Food menu is extensive which suggests its mostly frozen and deep fried. I had Calamari and, honestly, for not being near the sea fresh, it was lovely! My son had a burger, friend had wings. All quite heavy on the calories. If you mind that sort of thing. But it was delicious and more than ample.”

“Love this place. Peacocks, geese etc roaming around the garden as your sitting supping your pint over looking the river. Good choice of ciders and beer and toilets are always so clean considering the amount of visitors on a sunny day. If you like a rustic pub with good food and drink on the edge of the river this is it. We've been going for about 40 years or more and its still run by the same family.”

“Touring the area. Stopped by for a drink. Local punters somewhat unwelcoming. Staff similar. Lovely garden area, view of river, delightful peacocks.”
