About The Back Lane Tavern
In Woodstock, The Back Lane Tavern is a bar at 11 Park Ln, run as a local pub, wine bar and international small plates restaurant in a renovated building. The menu is built around small plates, with Korean chicken wings, triple-cut chips and fried goat cheese among the dishes. A wine list runs alongside the kitchen. Barbecue comes off a green egg in the courtyard garden, which gives the tavern an outdoor kitchen on top of the dining room. Dogs are welcome. Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the small plates, with prawns named repeatedly, from succulent tiger prawns to prawns with sourdough. Close behind are the Korean chicken wings, which one reviewer calls a great deal and another specially recommends, and the triple-cut chips, described as piping hot and crisp. Others name the Vietnamese spring rolls, fried goat cheese, potted crab, squid, tender Cornish plaice and a giant cous cous side. One reviewer found the burgers juicy, and the Pimm's and an interesting wine list also earn mentions. Staff are called friendly and professional, though one reviewer felt service could do with more attentiveness. Several say two plates per person, or six between two, is enough, and one reviewer urges ordering the sticky toffee pudding, where miso sauce meets ice cream.

“Absolutely stellar. We came at the recommendation of a well-travelled food connoisseur friend and the visit definitely did not disappoint and even exceeded the already-high expectations! We had 5 tapas dishes plus dessert, and everything was flavourful, thoughtfully designed, and top-notch quality. Shoutout especially to the succulent tiger prawns and tender Cornish plaice with an imaginative array of Blenheim girolle mushrooms, brown shrimp, and mussels on top. The Korean chicken wings, as everyone pointed out, was a great deal with 8 wings, and the triple-cut chips were piping hot and nicely crisp and crunchy. Also, get the sticky toffee pudding - the mix of miso sauce with ice cream is incredible! Our servers, Will, Cooper, and Tilly, were highly engaged, patient, observant, and brought a lovely personal touch to their recommendations. Thank you so much for a thoroughly delightful and memorable time!”

“This restaurant (brand new to me) close to the perimeter walls of the Blenheim estate and the centre of Woodstck town turned out to be an inspired choice. Everything about The Back Lane Tavern was exceptional. Food, service, atmosphere and affordability. I’m giving this review partly to inform others but principally to thank the management and Chef teams. You played a blinder on preparing and serving our meal last night. We live in London but are plotting our return.”

“Managed to book one of the last tables. Brilliant food and a lot of interesting wine options. Favourites were the prawns with sourdough, Vietnamese spring rolls, potted crab and the giant cous cous side (my absolute fav). Great service and great vibe. Was recommended to me and now I recommend to you!”

The decor perfectly blends rustic charm with contemporary flair, making it a cozy spot to unwind. The staff ( Cooper and Jen )were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt right at home. The menu offers a fantastic selection of craft beers and delicious pub fare. I highly recommend the burgers they're juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! Overall, Back Lane Tavern is a must-visit pub that delivers an exceptional experience. We can't wait to return!”

“Stunning food. We had six of the small plates/dishes between two and each one was delicious. Amazing attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients really shone through.”
