About Dewdrop
Dewdrop is a pub in Summertown, Oxford, at 258 Banbury Rd, with an interior that has been recently renovated. Cask ales and other beers on tap make up the drinks side, and the kitchen serves pub food to go with them. The lunch menu includes a steak and ale pie, and a Scotch Egg is another option. Sunday lunch comes as a roast, with roast beef and a sharing roast among the choices. Dogs are welcome, so regulars with a four-legged companion can bring them along for the meal. Reservations are taken, and guests are seated on arrival.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the draw reviewers raise most, with diners describing a sharing roast with plenty of food and perfectly cooked meat, praising the roast beef, and one calling the roasts among the best in Oxford. Close behind is the staff, repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming. Diners also name the steak and ale pie, a Scotch Egg, miso-glazed salmon, an 8oz sirloin steak and the chicken schnitzel, along with a nice range of beers on tap. One family was seated on arrival with a reservation, and another brought a greyhound and found the pub dog friendly. Complaints are small: one reviewer found the potatoes and yorkshire slightly overdone, and another thought the schnitzel a bit pricey. One reviewer reports severe vomiting and diarrhoea the morning after a burger and chips, and says the pub replied that its internal checks found no issues. Several reviewers describe a sense of community among the staff, and one recalls a worker running half a block to return gloves left on a table.

“I am leaving this review simply to warn others after an incredibly unpleasant experience. I ate a burger and chips here at around 8:00 PM and woke up at approximately 5:30 AM the following morning feeling extremely unwell, with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. By 7:00 AM, I had started experiencing severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Over the course of the day, I vomited 17 times and was completely exhausted. It was one of the worst illnesses I've experienced. I didn't want to leave a negative review without giving the restaurant an opportunity to respond, so I contacted them directly first. They replied explaining that their internal checks had found no issues and that, without a formal medical diagnosis, they could not attribute my illness to the meal. I understand they have to follow their procedures and protect themselves legally. However, the only other food I had eaten that day was a simple pesto pasta at around 11:30 AM, and I hadn't eaten anything unusual in the days beforehand. Based on the timing of my illness and what I had eaten, I believe the meal here was the most likely cause. I'm sharing my experience so that others can make an informed decision when choosing where to eat.”

“Lovely place with friendly stuff. Such a nice atmosphere. We ordered Miso-glazed salmon and 8oz Sirloin steak - couldn’t recommend more. We walked in around 17:30 and there were plenty of available tables. Whoever chose music for today evening - well done, great taste 🥰”

“Went for a Sunday dinner - loved this place! Staff were outstanding and great atmosphere. Tiniest complaint was that the potatoes and yorkshire were very slightly overdone, but that was if you were looking at anything to complain about, as the rest was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back.”
