About Holly Bush, Oxford
Holly Bush is a pub at 106 Bridge St on Osney Island in Oxford, next to the river. Its wood-fired oven cooks all the pizzas and the pots of comfort food at 290 degrees, so the kitchen turns out both from the same heat. Gluten-free and vegan options sit on the menu alongside them. Behind the bar, a selection of IPAs and other drinks sits next to the food. Sunday brings a roast with roast beef and a Yorkshire pudding. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, so walkers can bring their own company, and fireside seating gives the interior a place to settle in. The pub is open daily. The spacious interior suits groups, and large parties can book ahead with pre-orders.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention 2-for-1 monday pizzas, sunday roast, crispy yorkshire pudding and spiced pepperoni pizza.
Customer Review Summary
Pizza draws the most praise, especially the Monday two-for-one deal, which reviewers say brings crowds. One calls the fresh-baked pizzas "basically a religion," another rates the pizzas highly, and a group of 23 agreed the pizzas were especially excellent. The spiced pepperoni gets a specific mention. Close behind is the Sunday roast, with a golden, crispy Yorkshire pudding, roast beef with all the trimmings, and portions two people could share. Reviewers also single out the selection behind the bar, with one trying a couple of IPAs before buying, and a student discount that made lunch good value. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and the space as good for groups and celebrations, with a garden and veranda. Complaints are smaller. One reviewer found a pizza base slightly burnt and was told there was no pizza of the day, even though the menu invites guests to ask. Another says food took some time to arrive for the large group. One notes the pub's dog and child friendliness can annoy those with neither. A group booking a week ahead needed no deposit and pre-ordered a couple of days before.

“You’ll be hard pressed to find a warmer welcome than from Alex at this wonderful local next to the river. Monday 2-4-1 fresh baked pizzas are basically a religion. Whether you’re passing through or settling in fireside Alex will have you right at home.”

“It was delightful, the place is nice, the staff is amazing and the Sunday roast was quite nice. Prices are good and portions very generous (two people could perfectly eat from their Sunday roast!). I strongly recommend this place if you're in town and looking for a great pub!”

“Had a fantastic time visiting this spot. The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, making it a great place to relax. The food was spot on. I particularly enjoyed the roast, which came with a perfectly golden, crispy Yorkshire pudding that tasted just like a homemade Sunday dinner. Everything was served promptly and the selection behind the bar is impressive. I will definitely be coming back soon for another round.”

“🌟 Went to the Holly Bush on Saturday for a friend's 30th birthday and had a great time. The atmosphere was lively, the staff were friendly and attentive, and everything ran smoothly despite it being busy. A fantastic spot for celebrations with good food, drinks, and a welcoming vibe. We'll definitely be back again!”

“They handled a group of 23 for Friday lunch very well. Was able to book a week in advance and arrange pre-orders a couple of days in advance, no deposit or booking fee required. Food took some time to come out, but it was clearly made fresh and was delicious. Everyone agreed that the pizzas were especially excellent!”
