About Gatehouse
Gatehouse is a Hungry Horse pub in Wolverhampton on Donington Grove, part of the chain owned by Greene King. The dining area is separate from the bar, and TVs showing live sports, including TNT Sports and Sky Sports, are in both the bar and the dining area. A small conservatory seating area has its own wall-mounted TV. The kitchen cooks pub classics such as roasts, fish and chips, curries including a katsu curry, and burgers including a triple deck burger. A mixed grill, including the full Monty, rounds out the larger plates. Orders can be placed through the Greene King app. Pool is played inside.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers draw the most praise, with reviewers naming the triple deck burger and a burger and fries from the lunch deal, plus a Friday burger offer. Close behind are the mixed grill, a katsu curry and fish and chips described as massive, with a gin berry spritz called refreshing. Friendly, polite staff come up repeatedly, along with quick service, ordering on the app, and sports on the TVs even in the dining area. Several mention good portions and reasonable prices. The sharpest complaints concern cooking. Two reviewers describe an overcooked mixed grill steak like a flip flop, burnt chicken and sausages, and another reports overcooked chicken breast, a steak ordered medium rare that came overcooked, raw chicken strips, undercooked corn and a dessert that never arrived. One reviewer says the food used to be good, while another notes certain dishes are exceptional but others call for care. Another says the staff gave a vague answer about the corn.

“Food was absolutely appalling. I had mixed grill, Medium rare steak was like a flip flop. Chicken was burnt on the bottom, so were the sausages. The chef ( if you can call them one) knew exactly what he was doing. Trying to hide the burn areas. Food used to be good here. Not anymore.”

“Came in on Saturday had the full Monty mixed grill, it was absolutely lovely, served piping hot and the steak was cooked perfectly. Ordered on the app which was very convenient. Tried the Gin berry spritz and that was refreshing. Service was 10/10 and so was the food. I’ll definitely be returning again.”

“Good place to bring the kids/family/friends. Nice atmosphere. Does get busy. Plenty of tables in the dining area separate from the bar area to dining area. Toilets available. Staff are friendly and polite. Food is OK if you know what you want and been before but you get what you're paid for, there's certain dishes that are exceptional but you need to be mindful of some but they have good deals on too!. Plenty of free parking out front. Great atmosphere. Tvs showing sports even in the dining area. Fast service, can even order on the greene kings app”
