About The Winning Post Pub with Rooms
The Winning Post Pub with Rooms is a countryside pub with rooms in Windsor, set in an 18th-century building near Ascot racecourse. The bedrooms are in an annex out back, separate from the main pub. For Royal Ascot and Ladies Day, a shuttle minibus runs to and from the racecourse, so race-day guests can stay on site and travel without a car. Inside, the pub has an original stone floor and a large open fire for the colder months. The kitchen cooks pub dishes such as prawn cocktail and cod Kiev, and the menus change with the seasons. A private dining room can be hired for groups, and reservations are required. Live music and local events add to the calendar, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, helpful staff are the thread through most reviews, from a daily regular whose coffee order is known without asking to a server described as wonderful on a good night out. Close behind are the quiet rooms out back, called spacious and beautifully decorated, with underfloor heating, a private garden and complimentary home baked shortbread. Several guests stayed with dogs and liked the outdoor space and quick garden access. Diners single out the prawn cocktail and cod Kiev, call the food excellent and reasonably priced, and praise the breakfast. The open fire, the garden and the traditional atmosphere also come up. The one complaint is a birthday lunch where a couple were ignored by three staff, had to take menus left at the bar, and walked out after a long wait without being acknowledged. Race day visitors describe live music with their meal and a shuttle minibus that took them to and from Ascot racecourse.

“The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Totally recommend the prawn cocktail and cod Kiev … delicious. We stayed for 2 nights and the room in the annex was perfect for our nervy dog with quick access to the garden area. Lovely room. The pub has a great outside area too. We had a great stay.”

“We had a wonderful stay here. The location is beautiful, in a quiet and well-kept residential area, only about 25–30 minutes from Heathrow by taxi. The pub has a lovely traditional atmosphere, excellent food, a very good wine selection, and genuinely friendly staff. Our room was comfortable and very quiet. Although it’s under the Heathrow flight path, we hardly noticed the aircraft. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it.”

“Wonderful countryside pub with very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Spent the afternoon here relaxing and a little remote working while wife and daughter were at Ladies Day in Ascot. Food was great and very reasonably priced. And they even had a shuttle minibus to he racecourse for the ladies. Thoroughly recommend.”

“We were celebrating my birthday with a table for two lunchtime today. And we're ignored by three female members of staff. We had to obtain menus that were left at the bar. After 20 minutes of waiting we gave up completely and left. Also Ignored by staff on our exit from the premises. Extremely poor customer service not even acknowledging we were there”

“The Winning Post Team were fabulous from start to finish with our Royal Ascot Day on Tuesday. Ensuring we got to and from the event safely. The staff were incredibly helpful (even helping take the pictures!) and we enjoyed a delicious meal with live music. Great vibes all round! Thank you team 💓”
