About Bay Horse
Bay Horse is a pub at 49-53 Warrington Rd in Wigan, with rooms behind the building for overnight guests, including contractors and race-goers, on the same road as Haydock Races. The Holiday Inn Haydock is a short walk away, and the M6 is close. The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with burgers ordered from the bar and fish and chips offered as part of a meal deal. Football matches are shown, such as the Liverpool game, and a pool table and dartboard add to the plenty of tables on hand for groups of friends. Dogs are welcome. A large car park serves guests arriving by road.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food and value, with the fish and chips from a meal deal described as flaky, not greasy and piping hot, and the burgers called extremely good by one overnight guest. Close behind are the friendly staff, with waitresses singled out as attentive and great with children, and a gluten allergy catered to well. Several guests who stayed in the rooms describe them as quiet, modern and clean, and one returned for breakfast. Sports nights get a good atmosphere for a football match.

“visited again tonight for a family get together and we all enjoyed ourself. Food was excellent as usual and the service we recieved from the waitress was fantastic. Sorry didn't catch her name, older lady in black wearing glasses. Thank you to all for looking after us.”

“Arrived on a cold monday expecting a succulent warm meal , when i ordered a burger from the bar , i waited about 30 minutes for what turned out to be the equivalent of 2 peices of plastic like meat on 2 rich tea biscuits the buns were drier than a fresh tissue and the meat was just about edible , after my burger arrived ( without cheese ) i returned it and asked for cheese , what got returned to me looked like someone had put a peice of yellow acrylic plastic sheet on the so called previous burger the only way to enjoy my experience after this was to fill the rich tea biscuit buns (dry) with the leftover beans and chips wich i dont think a starving person would eat , however the pool table was alright bit expensive tho 👍”

“For an impromptu one night stay booked fifteen minutes before our arrival it was ideal. A few minutes from the M6, the room was nice, there were a couple of good beers on & the burgers were extremely good actually. All in all a far preferable place to be than a very rainy M6. Although the M6 was still rainy when we left in the morning. C'est la vie.”

“Visited today with family, firstly I would like to mention our waitress Donna, what a lovely lady, very attentive and friendly and great with our grandkids a true asset to the establishment. Second the food served up was delicious and great value for money. My family and I would highly recommend this restaurant for all of the above. We will be returning.”

“I popped into the Bay Horse around mid afternoon with a friend and enjoyed a delicious ultimate feast prepared exactly as I asked with no guac and brilliant value fir money. The staff all seemed very helpful, friendly and hard working. The only complaint I had is that I kept nearly banging my head on things but that can't really be helped, (I am around 5'7 or 5'8) I would gladly eat at the Bay Horse again though I am glad I ate when I did as it likely got quite busy when the races ended. I would fully recommend this pub to anyone that fancies an affordable meal out but maybe not on a race day so you don't have to deal with a lot of rude customers irritating the staff.”
