About Primrose Farm - Dining & Carvery
Primrose Farm sits on Queen Pit Road in Wigan, a pub with a carvery at its core. The ticketless carvery system lets diners move straight to the counter to choose their portion, cutting out the usual queue slip. Beyond the carvery, the kitchen turns out carvery baps and a breakfast menu that runs from a 9am buffet to plated options such as avocado and poached eggs on toast. The pub side covers drinks for the full day, with the Sunday and bank holiday trade drawing the room's busiest turns. Families and walking groups tend to fill the space through the peak windows, and the relaxed seating plan suits a long, unhurried meal. Outside the dining room, a beer garden catches the afternoon sun when the weather holds.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently single out the carvery as the standout draw, with several calling the baps great and one lunch visit memorable. Breakfast also earns repeat praise, particularly the scrambled eggs and poached eggs on toast, alongside generous portions. Service runs warm and quick even on busy bank holidays, though one reviewer describes staff as rude over a flag dispute.

“Cake is exceptional. Food was good. Service wasn't great. It seemed like they were in a rush for us to order even though no one was taking an order; you need to use the app or go to the bar. Not enough staff at the bar so long waits too. In my group two orders were taken wrong so one meal had to be remade and my kids ended up with an adult ls dessert that I had to pay extra for, no receipt was given so you don't know what went wrong until it arrives. Also they kept asking to clear the table as we were still eating which is rather rude. All seems a rush. The play area is rubbish, it all coin machines and some sad looking soft play shapes. They do offer crayons and the kids menu has activies on but we didn't receive this until waiting for dessert.”

“We always come to primrose as it's the only restaurant my son will eat at as he is autistic and stuggles massively with food. Today I ordered his meal chicken strips and chips an adult meal he can never finish it but it's the only meal he will eat. I forgot to ask them to remove the cheese sauce my mistake so I spoke to Kelly and said I would order and pay for another but Kelly insisted on getting my son another meal without the sauce. Kelly didn't and still doesn't know my son is autistic and how his relationship with food is very poor so thank you for helping us today even though you didn't have to as it was my fault. Thank you for your kindness and lovely mannerism we appreciated you so much. I hope primrose is honoured to have such an amazing women work for then.”
