About The Plough Inn Croft

The Plough Inn Croft is a small country pub on Heath Ln in Warrington, where homemade Italian food sits alongside traditional Sunday roasts. A landlord and landlady run the pub under new management. A specials board appears next to the main menu, and the lunch menu is built around sandwiches, with a beef gravy baguette and a fish goujon ciabatta among them. Football is shown on the TV, and dogs are welcome. The pub opens daily.

Customer Review Summary

The recurring complaint is the lunch menu. Two reviewers found the website menus out of date: one arrived at 2pm on a Saturday for the advertised sandwiches and ploughman's, was told they were only served in the week, and left after paying for drinks, while another was disappointed by the limited lunch menu. One reviewer found the lamb shank's vegetables overcooked and the beef gravy baguette's gravy too peppery. Even so, the lamb shank was called tasty, and one diner had a free kids meal.

“We’d never been the Plough Inn but we went to Kenyon hall farm to find it packed and we’d noticed it on the way so rocked up. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We ordered, soup, fish goujon ciabatta and a kids meal (that was free!). The food came quickly and was all delicious and piping hot. We are all so full! Husband was happy as they had football on the tv too. Really reasonably priced and will be coming again.”

“Didn't eat here but lovely service and great beer. Really nice beer garden too.”
  • Anne Bradley
“Disappointed with the limited lunch menu. That said the food was good and generous portions. Service was very good. Menus on web site are not the current ones we saw today - should be updated as it is misleading.”

“This is your old school typical British pub. Nice atmosphere, no nonsense food. Really enjoyed the Sunday roast! Would benefit from a play area for kids, but other than that, good visit!”

“So after seeing a post on their Facebook page of a lovely ploughman's lunch and the lunchtime menu of sandwiches we decided to call in. On arrival we ordered drinks and were handed the menus which were different than the one online (we'd come at 2pm and online it stated lunch between 12-3). We specifically came for this as the selection had sandwiches and other tapas dishes. We could see an elderly couple sat a few tables down from us with sandwiches (and crisps) so we asked if there was another menu as per shown online and told that it was no longer served at weekends (this is a Saturday) only in the week (even though we could clearly see other people had ordered from it). We paid for our drinks and left. Seriously need to sort out what's advertised with online or make it clear on arrival if a menu has been pulled early. We won't be back soon.”
