About The Alma Inn
The Alma Inn is a pub in Walsall, on Bentley Ln, that serves Indian curries alongside English food. The menu runs to 45 dishes, so the kitchen is not limited to one cuisine, and it blends the two with a fusion chicken jalfrezi pizza. Chilli Paneer sits among the curries, and the Ale, Onion & Mint Bhaji brings pub character to an Indian favourite. A traditional British hot pudding menu covers dessert for those who want to finish the English way. A large conservatory looks onto the garden, and the team serves at the table as well as at the bar, with Cobra beer available.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the curry-led menu, with the chicken jalfrezi named repeatedly, once as a pizza topping and once alongside a pint of Cobra. Chicken biryani, a lamb-on-the-bone curry and an Indo-Chinese chicken noodle dish also earn praise, and several note the menu goes beyond Indian food with English dishes and a traditional British hot pudding list. Mixed grill draws a few mentions, one calling it among the best locally, while others call it a good attempt but not great. Staff are described as friendly, with table and bar service called efficient, and one reviewer says the owner offered a better booth on a busy Friday night. Prices are called reasonable and portions large, and the refurbished decor gets approval. The criticisms are milder: the butter chicken was sweet, the pakora tasted of flour with no real flavour, and tables sit close together when larger groups come in. One reviewer closes on the desserts, calling them killers.

“Have been going infrequently for many years and had a lovely time but last night compelled me to write a review. The menu has been upgraded since my last visit and the choice of dishes blew me away. There are 2 very comprehensive menus with lots of fusion dishes. I finally, after a struggle to pick one, opted for the chicken jalfrezi pizza. This was the best tasting pizza I have ever eaten. And trust me I have eaten many a pizza. Both my friends eagerly polished off their choices of chicken biryani and an Indo-Chinese chicken noodle dish. It was a Friday night and the place was rammed but we were found a table and then when a better booth became available the owner asked if we wished to move. We hadn’t booked! The decor is fab and fresh. There is a delicious traditional British hot pudding menu that I wish I had room left to try but for next time because I’m not leaving it so long until my next visit. Great for families. Very informal. Excellent pricing. Large portions. You won’t be disappointed.”

“Hidden gem in Walsall! Never thought this pub (refurbished) would be so great with lovely staff! Food also was excellent with more than fair prices”

“I love coming to this pub when I am in Walsall staying with my girlfriend. The service is great and everyone there is very friendly. Their coca cola is the best in the world 🌎 by far. I only wish I could visit more often as I miss the pub but not as much as I miss my girlfriend.”

“If your looking for the best of the best this is the place Fast , 5-start food , brilliant staff. Food was soo good but The Desserts are killers. 1st time trying this place and has beat all of the other places. Thank you for the amazing good 😋”

“Off the beaten track this place overall makes a good effort. The restaurant is a decent size, it can get a little tight when they host larger groups and the tables are quite close to each other. The food is ok, the mixed grill is a good attempt but not great. The butter chicken was sweet so a good choice if that’s your preference. The naan were not your typical naans but still fresh and tasty.”
