About The Albion Inn
On Station Rd in Verwood, The Albion Inn is a pub and restaurant that seats diners in a conservatory apart from the main bar. Customer Review Summary
Homemade pies draw the most consistent praise: reviewers describe a steak and caramelised onion pie "packed with meat" and another pie with "so much filling the chef had to put some chunks of beef in the gravy," with portions repeatedly called generous. Close behind, the chicken gyros win frequent mentions, praised as a huge, tasty portion, though one group found the same dish diabolical on a different visit, the chicken finely shredded, dry, and seemingly reheated, served with just a little lettuce, tomato, and onion. Sunday roasts split opinion: one visit calls the roast delicious with generous three meat portions, while another reviewer reports arriving to find no beef available and describes the lamb served as looking totally inedible. A separate visit recounts a halloumi burrito served cold and undercooked with no dip, paired with a rock hard gluten free bun, and no staff check-in or gesture offered when the meals came back barely touched. Most other reviewers still describe the staff as friendly and the conservatory dining area, set apart from the main bar, as a pleasant spot to eat.

“I visited to celebrate my cousin's birthday and left extremely disappointed. The food was completely unacceptable and lacked any flavour. I ordered the Halloumi Burrito, but the halloumi wasn't even properly cooked and the burrito was served cold. It came with tortillas but no dip or accompaniment, making the dish feel unfinished and poorly presented. My cousin ordered the chicken burger with a gluten-free bun, and the bun was rock hard and virtually inedible. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of customer service. Not once did a member of staff come to check whether our meals were satisfactory. We had to ask for the bill ourselves, and only then were we asked if we wanted a box to take the food home. Given that both meals were barely touched, this should have been an obvious indication that something was wrong. When we explained how poor the food had been, there was no apology, no attempt to resolve the issue, and no offer of any discount or goodwill gesture. We were simply expected to pay the full bill for a meal we could hardly eat. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration, but instead it was a very disappointing experience. Based on both the quality of the food and the lack of customer care, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant.”

“Lovely food at The Albion Inn. Best to phone ahead and book a table. The restaurant is in the conservatory so away from the main bar area - great for families and those wanting to have easy conversation whilst eating. Food and service was excellent”

“Group of 4 of us. The starters were great. The mains were diabolical. We all had the chicken gyro. The chicken was too finely shredded and dry. Think it was a reheat. It was served with pitta bread and a salad, if you can can call a little lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and a sprinkling of white onion along with a small pot of salad cream and chips. The mains were left as they were quite off putting. Desert was described as seasonal fruit with honey and ice cream. It wasn't seasonal fruit. This is an absolute shame as there isn't a traditional authentic greek restaurant around and we were so looking forward to trying it out.”

“Went for Sunday roast. Was very disappointing. On arrival we were told there was no beef, only lamb or chicken. I ordered the lamb and the other two in our party ordered the chicken. My lamb came up and the meat looked totally inedible. It …”

“Food was lovely. My wife had the albion burger and I had the Greek Yeeros. Portion size was definitely generous and the chicken was extremely tasty. However taste the chips before eating them because they are also a little over generous with the salt before serving. Dont make the mistake my wife did and added extra before. My daughter had the classic burger which was a proper 6oz patty cooked perfectly and flavoured lovely. Beautiful venue, beautiful service, beautiful food. Need to return first Wednesday to try more of there greek food because they definitely did that well”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
