Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers return for most, with lamb, pork, turkey and two cuts of beef on the menu, and sirloin beef and lamb both singled out. Diners praise the tender meat, crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, mash and a cheesy side, all described as homemade and generous in size. Close behind, the evening menu draws mentions of bang bang beef, liver, bacon and onions, pork belly, fish and chips, and a mackerel and horseradish pâté, with the affogato and bread and butter pudding named among the desserts. A perfect pint of Bass and a good cask ale with a pie also earn praise. Reviewers describe friendly, quick service, and the garden is noted as dog friendly with good music. No real complaints recur, though one diner was too full for dessert and one planned to book next time after being squeezed in on a busy Easter Sunday. Several walk-ins on busy Sundays were fitted in without fuss.

“Best Sunday roast I’ve ever had. We walked in without a booking and they managed to fit us in on a clearly very busy Sunday and I’m glad they did - portions were very decent in size & food was really delicious, especially the stuffing, mash & cheesy side dish (not sure what it was). We had the sirloin beef and the lamb. Service was excellent and food came out quickly. Good homemade food. Highly recommend.”

“Superb Sunday lunch. Straightforward menu on a Sunday. No starters, choice of lamb, pork, turkey and 2 cuts of beef. Excellent sides, sauces and gravy. Nice range of desserts. Keeping it simple and getting it right.”

“This was my first full proper pub and food experience in the UK. This place delivered on all I had hoped it would be. Good cask ale and a pie. Thank you for a fantastic memory.”

“Fantastic food and massive portions. Today we had the Sunday roast. Cooked to perfection…sorry the photo shows it half eaten as we were too busy enjoying it to remember to take a photo :-) Staff are really friendly and nothing too much trouble. Just disappointed we were so full up there was no room for dessert! We don’t live locally but will definitely return next time we are in the area.”
